Product description

The plastic spray bottle 100 ml is a ready-made set for thin liquid products applied as a fine mist: toners, hydrolats, body and hair sprays, and room or fabric fresheners. The PET bottle is lightweight and shatterproof, making it suitable for the bathroom, handbag or travel. The clear material lets you see the colour of the contents and how much product remains at a glance.

The tall, slim shape is easy to hold and offers a smooth surface large enough for a label. The clear sprayer with a silver glossy ring complements the clear bottle. The set is suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

  • Toners, face waters and hydrolats – the sprayer applies a thin, even layer without a cotton pad.
  • Hair sprays and leave-in conditioners – thin water-based formulations can be distributed along the full length of the hair.
  • Body mists and refreshing sprays – water and hydroalcoholic solutions with low viscosity form a fine mist.
  • Room and fabric fresheners – the clear bottle shows the colour of the contents.

This set is not suitable for thick or oily products. Pure vegetable oils, gels and emulsions will not atomise into a mist; the sprayer will either shoot them out as a stream or become clogged.

How the sprayer doses

The mechanical sprayer delivers approximately 0.12 ml of product per press as a fine mist. The small dose allows gradual, even application.

Mist quality depends mainly on the viscosity of the contents. Aqueous solutions spray reliably. With formulations containing thickeners, a higher proportion of glycerin or solubilised oils, it is worth testing the spray on a small sample first. Undissolved particles, sediment from extracts or glitter can clog the nozzle, so such products should be filtered before filling.

If the dip tube extends deeper than the bottom of the bottle, trim it with clean scissors at an angle so it ends just above the bottom. An angled tip will not suction to the bottom, allowing the bottle to be emptied almost completely.

Nominal and total volume

Two figures are given for the bottle. The nominal volume is the amount the container is designed for during normal filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the rim of the neck. The difference is a reserve for the dip tube and the sprayer body, which displace some of the contents, and for the expansion of liquid with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Overfilling may cause the contents to leak through the thread when the sprayer is screwed on.

What to know before filling

Before first use, wash the bottle with lukewarm water, rinse and disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. The sprayer is disinfected by pumping alcohol through the mechanism to treat the dip tube and nozzle as well. Both parts must dry completely before filling.

PET cannot withstand high temperatures. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents, boil it or sterilise it in an oven, as it will deform under heat. Fill only after the product has cooled to room temperature.

  • Material sensitivity – PET handles water-based and standard hydroalcoholic solutions well. Concentrated essential oils and strong solvents may damage or cloud the plastic over time.
  • Light protection – the clear container does not protect the contents from light, so the filled bottle should be stored away from direct sunlight.
  • Labelling – the smooth cylindrical wall is suitable for self-adhesive labels. The bottle dimensions needed for label design are listed in the component parameters.
  • Recycling – the PET bottle is sorted as plastic. The sprayer combines plastic with an aluminium ring, so it should be separated from the bottle before sorting.

The bottle has a neck with the standard thread specified in the parameters. Further closures with the same thread type and ready-made combinations are available from Handymade. When using your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Can oil or gel be sprayed through the sprayer on the 100 ml plastic bottle?
No, the mechanical sprayer on the 100 ml plastic bottle is designed for thin liquids with a viscosity close to water. Pure vegetable oil, gel or emulsion will not form a mist — they will shoot out as a stream or clog the mechanism. For oily products, a pump or dropper is more suitable. With slightly thickened tonics, it is worth testing the spray on a small sample first.
Is the clear plastic spray bottle suitable for light-sensitive products?
Only with limitations, as clear PET does not protect the contents from light. Formulations with plant extracts, vitamins or natural colorants may change colour and scent in direct sunlight. Such products should be stored in a cupboard or in a box. For very sensitive formulations, a dark container is more appropriate.
Can alcohol solutions and essential oils be filled into the PET spray bottle?
The PET spray bottle handles water-alcohol solutions commonly used in cosmetics without issue. Concentrated essential oils, however, are not suitable. Undiluted essential oils and strong solvents may cloud or soften the plastic. In a finished product, essential oils should be dissolved in alcohol or a solubilizer. Compatibility should be verified with a multi-week test in a filled bottle.
How to clean the plastic spray bottle before reuse?
Wash the bottle with lukewarm soapy water, rinse thoroughly and disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Pump clean water through the sprayer first, then alcohol, to clean the dip tube and nozzle. Hot water and boiling should not be used, as PET deforms under heat. Both parts must dry completely before filling.
Why does the sprayer on the 100 ml plastic bottle not spray on the first press?
This is normal — the sprayer mechanism needs to fill with liquid first. After filling the bottle, press the head several times until the product rises through the dip tube to the nozzle. If the sprayer still does not spray, the usual cause is contents that are too thick, undissolved particles in the nozzle, or the dip tube suctioned to the bottom of the bottle.
