A plastic bottle with cap, 100 ml, is a ready-to-use set for liquid cosmetic products that are poured from the container: a clear PET bottle in a tall, slim shape and a screw-on cap in matte white. The transparent material shows the colour and clarity of the contents, and the remaining volume is visible at a glance. PET is also lightweight and shatterproof, making it suitable for the bathroom, shower, and travel.

The set works well for water-based preparations, rinse-off products, and oil blends. Both the bottle and the cap are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and a declaration of conformity is issued for each component.

Which products is the set suitable for

The consistency of the contents is the deciding factor. A narrow neck and a secure cap are well suited to liquids and thinner gels that flow freely from the bottle.

Water-based preparations – toners, hydrolats, micellar waters, and facial waters, where a transparent container is an advantage.
Rinse-off products – shower gels, shampoos, and liquid soaps of thin to medium consistency.
Oil blends – body, massage, and bath oils with an essential oil content typical for a finished product.
Samples and travel sizes – 100 ml is sufficient for a trial batch or a smaller finished-product package.

Thick creams, butters, and balms are difficult to fill and dispense through a narrow neck. A jar is more suitable for these.

Dispensing and closure

The cap is a solid screw closure with no dispensing opening. For each use it is unscrewed and the contents are poured directly from the neck. This is practical for products applied to a cotton pad or into the palm. It is also convenient for travel, as the closure cannot open accidentally under pressure in a bag or pocket.

After filling and tightening the cap, lay the bottle on its side or turn it upside down for a few hours. This shows whether the closure seals with your formulation. Thin oils and alcohol-based solutions are more demanding in terms of leak resistance than gels.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the quantity for which the bottle is intended under normal filling conditions. The total brim-full volume is the physical capacity of the bottle up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents with temperature change. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Useful information

Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle and cap in warm water with a cleaning agent, rinse thoroughly, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely.
Essential oils and solvents – undiluted essential oils, concentrated fragrance compounds, and strong solvents can damage the plastic and should be stored in glass.
Labelling – the cylindrical body of the bottle takes labels well. Label dimensions are given in the product specifications.
Intended use – the set is intended for cosmetic products and is not declared for contact with food.
Recycling – the PET bottle and the polypropylene cap are sorted into plastic waste.

PET cannot withstand high temperatures. Fill the contents only after they have cooled, and do not boil or steam-sterilise the bottle. Heat can deform it and prevent the cap from sealing properly.

Frequently asked questions

Is the clear plastic bottle 100 ml suitable for light-sensitive products?

Only with limitations, because clear PET transmits light. Products containing easily oxidising oils, vitamins, or natural pigments may change colour or scent more quickly. If the contents need to remain visible, storing the bottle in a cabinet or box will help. For highly sensitive formulations, a dark container is more reliable.

To what level should the 100 ml plastic bottle be filled?

The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, i.e. 100 ml, not right up to the neck. The headspace above the liquid is a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents with temperature change. An overfilled bottle may leak when the cap is screwed on or when it warms up. The level at correct fill therefore remains below the neck.

Is the PET bottle with cap suitable for oils and alcohol-based preparations?

Yes, PET tolerates vegetable oils, oil blends, and preparations with a standard proportion of alcohol. The exceptions are undiluted essential oils, concentrated fragrance compounds, and strong solvents, which can soften or cloud the plastic. It is worth testing a new formulation in one filled bottle and monitoring the appearance of the container and the seal of the cap for several weeks.

Can the plastic bottle with cap be reused?

Yes, both the bottle and the cap can be refilled after thorough cleaning and disinfection. Warm water with a cleaning agent is sufficient for washing. Hot water and boiling are not suitable, as PET deforms under heat. Both parts must be completely dry before refilling. A container with a scratched interior or residual odour is best discarded.

Can a different closure than the cap be fitted to the 100 ml plastic bottle?

Yes, any closure with the same thread type listed in the product specifications will fit the bottle. This allows a thicker or more frequently used product to be dispensed more conveniently than by pouring.
