Clear tall plastic bottle, silver cap, 100 ml

A transparent plastic bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml and a matte silver screw cap is a ready-made combination of container and closure for liquid cosmetic products. The bottle body is made of PET, which is lightweight and will not shatter like glass if dropped. It is therefore suitable for the bathroom, shower, and travel, and makes it easier to ship finished products. The clear material lets you see the colour of the contents and how much product remains.

The set is particularly suited for tonics, micellar waters, hydrosols, shower gels, shampoos, liquid body lotions, and body or massage oils. The cap only closes the bottle; the contents are poured directly through the neck. It is therefore suitable for products that flow freely and do not require drop-by-drop dispensing.

How the bottle and cap work together

The bottle and cap share the same thread type, so they fit together and the set does not need to be assembled from two separate items.

• Sealing – the cap is made of polypropylene and has a soft foam polyethylene liner inside. When tightened, it presses against the rim of the neck and helps prevent leakage during transport.
• Dispensing – thin liquids flow through the neck quickly. The set is therefore suited for products applied to the palm or a cotton pad, or as a refill for topping up.
• Appearance – the matte silver cap looks neutral against the clear bottle and does not clash with the colour of the contents or the label.

Thick creams and body butters are difficult to remove through the neck. A jar is more practical for those.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for under normal filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them provides a margin for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. In a completely full bottle, liquid would press against the cap when it warms up, which may lead to leakage. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The headspace below the neck also makes it easier to open without spilling and to shake the contents before use.

What to know before filling

Before first use, the bottle and cap are washed with lukewarm water and a small amount of cleaning agent, rinsed thoroughly, and disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. They must dry completely before filling to prevent water or disinfectant residue from contaminating the product.

PET is resistant to aqueous, emulsion, and oil-based products and to alcoholic solutions at standard cosmetic concentrations. Concentrated essential oils and certain solvents, such as acetone, can degrade the plastic. For products with a high proportion of essential oils or alcohol, it is recommended to carry out a compatibility test with the specific formulation in advance.

The bottle and cap are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not declared for contact with food.
