Wooden wick 02 black 12.7 mm is a practical part of the packaging assortment that makes it possible to create design candles in various containers, jars and pots. A stable wooden wick is suitable for even burning of wax and for aesthetically linking functional and decorative packaging – from glass containers to design pots or smaller bottles intended for candles. Thanks to a suitably chosen package and a quality wick, you obtain a final product with a professional appearance, suitable for home as well as semi-professional candle pouring.
When choosing a container or jar, focus primarily on the inner diameter of the packaging and the planned height of the candle. It is recommended to choose such a bottle or pot that the flame is at a sufficient distance from the walls and bottom of the container and the wax melts evenly over the entire surface. Before final production, always make a trial pour during which you test the burning, the formation of the wax pool and the behaviour of the wooden wick with the selected wax and fragrance.
Yes, the container, jar or pot from the candle can be reused if hygiene principles are observed. After the candle has burned out, remove the remaining wax and wick, clean the packaging thoroughly, dry it and, before refilling, disinfect it with a suitable agent, for example using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For disinfection, you can use IPA or ethanol products available in the Handymade.sk assortment: IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol 1 l and Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based 1 l. Packaging prepared in this way is suitable for another candle or other non-food use according to your needs.
The wooden wick must be placed as precisely as possible in the centre of the container and firmly fixed so that it does not float or tilt while pouring the wax. Metal or wooden bases intended for wooden wicks are usually used; these are glued to the bottom of the packaging with a heat-resistant adhesive or with an adhesive pad for wicks. Place the container on a stable, flat surface and, when pouring the wax, observe the recommended temperature so that the wood does not overheat unnecessarily and so that the wall of the bottle or pot is not damaged.
Before each lighting, it is recommended to shorten the burnt part of the wooden wick to an appropriate length so that the flame is stable and does not smoke excessively. During burning, let the candle burn long enough for the wax to melt to the edge of the container, thereby minimising tunnelling. Always place the candle on a non-flammable and stable surface, away from draughts and out of reach of children and animals. Observing these principles extends the life of the candle and helps to maintain a clean and even flame.
If you decide not to reuse the container after the candle, it is recommended to recycle it according to the type of material stated for the specific packaging in the product parameters on Handymade.sk. Glass packaging is usually sorted into the glass container, plastic containers into the relevant plastic container and metal lids or wick bases into metal waste, unless local waste-sorting rules state otherwise. Before handing over for recycling, we recommend removing the remaining wax and separating different materials (for example glass, plastic, metal) so that the packaging can be processed efficiently in the recycling system.
On Handymade.sk, when choosing packaging you can use the advanced filter located at the top of the page after clicking on the relevant packaging category (for example bottles, jars, pots or candle containers). In the advanced filter you can clearly select parameters such as neck type, size, colour or packaging material. Thanks to this, you can easily find a bottle, medicine bottle, pot or other container that will best suit your formulation, design and the way the final product is used.
