When choosing a wooden wick, it is important to take into account the internal diameter of the container, the type and composition of the wax, as well as the amount of added fragrance or dye. It is recommended to make several test pours with different wick sizes in the same bottle or jar, and observe flame size, burning rate and formation of carbon build-up. It is always necessary to ensure that the flame is not too high and that the wax melts evenly right up to the edge of the container.

The wooden wick is designed as a consumable component and is generally intended for single use in one candle. The wick should be placed as close as possible to the centre of the container, perpendicular to the bottom, and trimmed to a suitable height so that after the wax has solidified it protrudes only by the recommended length above the surface. A system prepared in this way supports stable burning and better consumption of the wax throughout the container.

After the candle has burned out, allow the container to cool down completely and remove the remaining wax, the base and the wooden wick. Sort the bottle, jar or pot into the appropriate container according to the packaging material – glass containers go into glass recycling, plastic pots or closures into plastic recycling and metal components into metal waste, if this is supported in your sorting system. The wooden wick and wax residues can be disposed of in municipal waste.
