Product description

Floral water, hydrosol, common sage in organic quality is a distinctive herbal, water-based cosmetic raw material obtained by steam distillation of the leaves and aerial parts of common sage, Salvia officinalis. During distillation, an aqueous phase is formed with a typical sage-like, herbal, slightly camphorous to spicy scent. The hydrosol is gentler than sage essential oil, yet it retains a pronounced herbal character, which is particularly suitable for cleansing, mattifying and hair care formulations.
Organic sage hydrosol is suitable for combination, oily, impure, problematic skin, for the scalp prone to oiliness and for deodorant-focused cosmetic products. It is used as the aqueous phase in toners, hair lotions, shampoos, cleansing gels, foot products, water-based deodorants and light emulsions.

Key benefits

  • Distinctive herbal water – suitable for products with a fresh, clean profile.
  • Suitable for oily and combination skin – practical for toners and cleansing products.
  • Popular in hair care – suitable for shampoos and hair tonics for an oil-prone scalp.
  • Suitable for deodorant products – used in body sprays and water-based deodorants.
  • Good compatibility with mattifying ingredients – suitable with niacinamide, zinc, clays and light humectants.
  • Water-based alternative to sage essential oil – gentler and easier to incorporate into aqueous systems.

Suitable for products such as

  • toners for oily skin,
  • cleansing gels and foams,
  • hair lotions and shampoos for an oil-prone scalp,
  • water-based deodorants and body sprays,
  • foot sprays and gels,
  • clay masks for the T-zone,
  • light creams and emulsions for combination skin.

Use in formulation

  • Recommended dosage: 1 – 100 %; for leave-on products for sensitive skin, start with a lower proportion.
  • Soluble in: water.
  • Miscible with: water, hydrosols, glycerin, propanediol, aloe vera and water-soluble active ingredients.
  • Compatible with: toners, shampoos, shower gels, oil-in-water emulsions and water-based deodorants.
  • It is recommended to add during the cooling phase (at a temperature below 40 °C).
  • In deodorants: combine with odour-absorbing components, suitable pH and reliable preservation.
  • For oily skin: suitable with niacinamide, zinc PCA, green clay, panthenol and mild surfactants.

Safety and storage

  • Intended for cosmetic use.
  • For sensitive skin, we recommend a patch test.
  • For products intended for children, pregnant women, breastfeeding women and the eye area, assess the entire formulation.
  • Due to the pronounced herbal profile, test sensorial properties at the target concentration.
  • Protect from contamination, heat, frost and light.
  • Store tightly closed, ideally in a cool, dark place.
