Product description
Glass dropper bottle 30 ml – black glossy
The black glass dropper bottle is a ready-to-use set of a glass vial and dropper in a black glossy finish, designed for filling and dispensing liquid cosmetic preparations. Dark glass protects the contents from light, which is particularly appreciated with oil serums, blends with essential oils, and light-sensitive active ingredients. The dropper dispenses drop by drop without finger contact with the contents, making the set suitable wherever a preparation is applied in small amounts.
The 30 ml volume is a practical size for facial serums, treatment oils for the face, beard or cuticles, oil concentrates, tinctures and samples of your own formulations. The bottle and dropper are matched in both colour and thread, so the set does not need to be assembled from individual parts.
Key benefits
- Light protection – black glass lets through a minimum of light, thereby slowing the oxidation of oils and the loss of efficacy of light-sensitive ingredients, which occurs faster in clear glass.
- Precise dosing – the dropper draws and applies exactly as many drops as you need, and is suitable for preparations with a recommended dosage in drops.
- Hygienic use – the contents do not come into contact with fingers or the area around the neck, which is an advantage with leave-on preparations used over several weeks.
- Non-reactive glass – the glass bottle and the glass tube of the dropper do not absorb scents and do not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils, making them suitable even for concentrated blends.
- Uniform appearance – the glossy black finish of both the bottle and the dropper creates a cohesive look and carries a label in a light or metallic colour well.
How the set works
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a squeeze bulb and a metal collar with a thread that fits firmly onto the bottle neck. When drawing, the bulb is pressed, the tube is submerged in the contents and, upon release, draws up the liquid. Drop-by-drop dispensing is smooth and easy to control. The length of the tube matches the height of the bottle, so it reaches near the bottom and can draw up the remaining contents.
The set is designed for liquid and mildly viscous preparations. Thin oils, serums based on water or glycerin, tinctures and alcoholic solutions pass through the tube without difficulty. With thicker serums containing a higher proportion of gelling agents, the draw slows down and drops form more slowly, so it is advisable to test the dropper's behaviour with the specific formulation in advance.
Before first filling, wash both the bottle and the dropper, disinfect with alcohol (ethanol or isopropyl alcohol) and leave to dry completely. Residual water in the tube could spoil an anhydrous oil preparation.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial serums – both water-based and oil-based, where a few drops are applied to clean skin and precise dosing conserves expensive active ingredients.
- Oils for the face, beard and hair – blends of vegetable and essential oils that resist oxidation better in dark glass.
- Cuticle oil – a small amount is applied directly to the nail bed without soiling the surrounding area.
- Concentrates and active solutions – such as vitamin solutions, extracts or essential oil blends for dilution into bases.
- Tinctures and alcoholic extracts – alcohol does not harm glass and the dark bottle protects plant ingredients from light.
- Samples and test batches – the 30 ml volume is sufficient for testing a formulation before producing a larger quantity.
Nominal and total volume
When filling, it is important to distinguish between two figures. The nominal volume is the quantity for which the bottle is intended under normal filling conditions and which is stated on the label. The total brimful volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference provides clearance for the dropper tube, which takes up some space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If filled all the way to the neck, the contents would be pushed out through the thread once the dropper is fitted, and the set could leak.
What is good to know
The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity and technical documentation are available with the product. The food-contact certificate applies to the glass bottle alone; the dropper does not have one. The set is therefore intended for cosmetics and we do not recommend it for filling food products such as home-made oils or syrups.
Glass is sensitive to sudden temperature changes. Allow the hot oil phase to cool to at least a lukewarm temperature before filling, and never fill a cold bottle with boiling contents. The glossy black surface does not wear under normal use, but if dropped on a hard floor the bottle may break like any glass.
The squeeze bulb of the dropper is made of a flexible material that does not normally come into contact with the contents, unless you turn the bottle upside down with liquid drawn up. Always return any drawn-up contents to the bottle and do not leave them in the tube.
For blends with a high proportion of essential oils or containing solvents, we recommend verifying the thread seal and the condition of the dropper bulb after a few days of test storage before filling the entire batch.
The bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. When changing the type of contents, for example from an essential oil blend to a delicate serum, it is better to replace the dropper to prevent scent transfer. Other closures with the same thread type listed in the specifications can also be used on the bottle; ready-made combinations and individual closures are available in the Handymade range, and for your own combination we recommend verifying the seal and dosing with the specific formulation.
The bottle has a flat cylindrical surface for a label. At the end of its life, the glass bottle belongs in glass recycling; the dropper is made of several materials (glass, aluminium, plastic), so we recommend disassembling it before sorting.
