Product description

Glass bottle, vial, black glossy dropper, 30 ml

Ready-made dropper dispensing set: brown glass vial with a volume of 30 ml and a black glossy dropper. Brown glass reduces light penetration, helping to protect contents sensitive to oxidation, such as facial oils, oil serums, blends with essential oils, tinctures or concentrated active ingredients. The dropper allows precise measurement of small amounts without pouring, making the set suitable wherever dosage matters and where the contents should not be unnecessarily exposed to air.

Vial is the name of a bottle shape with a narrow neck and straight walls, not a designation of use. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct contact with food. The dropper does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

Why choose this set

  • Light protection – brown glass filters part of the light spectrum, which slows the degradation of oils, vitamins and fragrance components compared to a clear container.
  • Dropper dispensing – the dropper releases approximately the same drop each time, making it easier to maintain the recommended amount of serum or oil per use.
  • Glass with no interaction with contents – the glass bottle and glass tube of the dropper do not absorb fragrance or colour and do not react with essential oils, alcohol or most active ingredients.
  • Contents in contact only with glass and the bulb – during normal use, the contents touch the glass and the silicone bulb. The aluminium casing of the dropper serves only an aesthetic and mechanical function.
  • Black glossy dropper – combined with brown glass, it creates a uniform dark look that pairs well with a black or gold label.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount for which the bottle is designed for normal filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference is a reserve for the dropper tube, which when screwed in displaces some of the contents upward, and for the expansion of contents with temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Both values are stated in the parameters.

When filling oils and serums, fill the bottle no higher than the lower edge of the neck. If you fill it all the way to the brim, the contents will overflow through the thread when the tube is inserted, causing the dropper to stick and seal poorly.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial and hair oils – individual oils and blends, where the dropper makes it easy to dispense a few drops into the palm.
  • Oil-based and anhydrous serums – concentrated products with a higher proportion of active ingredients, where a precise dose matters.
  • Blends with essential oils – aromatherapy blends, massage oils in small packaging, carrier oils with added essential oils.
  • Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – glass resists alcohol and the dropper suits dispensing drop by drop.
  • Water-based serums and tonics in small volumes – suitable for products applied drop by drop, not by spray.

For products dispensed in larger quantities at once (creams, milks, gels), the dropper is impractical. A pump closure or a jar is a better choice there.

How the dropper works and what it is made of

The dropper consists of a glass tube, a flexible silicone bulb and a glossy black aluminium casing with an internal plastic insert with a thread. The length of the dropper is matched to the height of the bottle, so the tube reaches almost to the bottom and the contents can be used up completely. Squeezing the bulb before submerging draws in the contents; releasing the bulb over the palm dispenses it drop by drop.

The silicone bulb withstands common cosmetic oils and alcohol. With blends that have a high proportion of essential oils, especially citrus ones, it is advisable to check the behaviour of the bulb in the specific formulation during longer storage, as some terpenes may gradually soften flexible materials over time. With normal dilution in a carrier oil, no such change is expected.

After use, always replace the dropper and tighten it. Do not leave the bulb compressed for extended periods or expose it to direct sunlight, as this unnecessarily shortens its service life.

What is good to know before filling

  • Container preparation – before first filling, wash both the bottle and dropper, rinse with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely upside down. Residual water in an oil-based product promotes the growth of microorganisms.
  • Glass and heat – glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not pour a hot phase into cold glass and vice versa.
  • Reuse – both the glass and the dropper can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. When changing products, make sure no fragrance from the previous contents remains in the bulb.
  • Leak-tightness during transport – the dropper is a dispensing closure, not a transport one. When shipping a product, we recommend checking that it is tightened and placing the bottle in a bag or box.
  • Labelling – the straight cylindrical wall of the vial allows a label to be applied around the entire circumference.
  • Recycling – the bottle goes into glass recycling. The dropper is made of several materials, so before disposal separate the glass tube from the bulb and casing.

Choosing a closure for your own combination

The set is assembled so that the dropper seals and its length matches the bottle. If you want to use the bottle with a different closure, closures with the same thread type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and behaviour of the container with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does a brown glass vial protect the contents from light?
Yes, brown glass reduces part of the light that accelerates the oxidation of oils, vitamins and essential oils. It is not a complete barrier, so even a brown bottle should be stored away from direct sunlight. Compared to clear glass, however, it extends the period during which sensitive contents retain their fragrance and properties.
How much contents does a 30 ml vial with dropper hold?
The bottle is intended for filling to the nominal volume of 30 ml, although slightly more fits up to the brim. The difference is a reserve for the dropper tube and for the expansion of contents with temperature changes. If filled to the brim, the contents will overflow when the dropper is screwed in, causing it to stick and seal poorly.
Is a glass vial with a dropper suitable for essential oils and tinctures?
Yes, both the glass and the glass tube of the dropper resist essential oils and alcohol without any change in properties. The only flexible part in contact with the contents is the silicone bulb, which withstands common diluted blends. For undiluted essential oils, especially citrus ones, it is advisable to check its condition after longer storage.
Can the glass vial with dropper be washed and reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the dropper can be reused after thorough washing, rinsing with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and complete drying. Rinse the dropper bulb several times by drawing in and releasing the cleaning solution to make sure no fragrance from the previous product remains. Replace a damaged or hardened bulb.
Is the vial and dropper set also suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct contact with food, but the dropper does not. For home oils, syrups or herbal infusions, use a bottle with a closure that has food-grade suitability stated in its parameters.
Will the dropper in the vial remain leak-tight when shipping a product?
When properly tightened, the dropper seals under normal handling, but it is not designed as a transport closure. When shipping a finished product, we recommend checking that it is tightened, placing the bottle in a bag or box and transporting it upright.
