Product description
Black glossy glass medicine bottle with a nominal volume of 15 ml, supplied together with a plastic dropper insert and a black ribbed safety cap. The set is designed for drop-by-drop dispensing, which makes it particularly suitable for facial and oil serums, essential oil blends, tinctures and active ingredient concentrates. The opaque black glass does not let light through to the contents, which you will appreciate with formulations that are gradually degraded by light. The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.
What the set is suitable for
- Oil and facial serums – the small volume and the dropper insert match doses of a few drops per use.
- Essential oil blends and fragrance concentrates – dark glass protects volatile components from light, and the dropper insert makes it easier to measure accurately into a diffuser or a formulation.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with alcohol, and dispensing by the drop is more precise with concentrated preparations than pouring.
- Samples and test batches – a volume of 15 ml is enough to try out a formulation without wasting raw materials.
Dispensing and closing
The dropper insert is pressed into the neck of the medicine bottle as far as it will go and stays in place even after the cap is opened. The contents are dispensed by tilting the bottle, or by tapping it gently, and come out one drop at a time.
The safety cap is tightened onto the thread. The ribbed surface makes it easier to grip, even with oily fingers.
When filling the bottle yourself, fill it to the nominal volume of 15 ml, not to the neck. If the bottle is filled right to the brim, the dropper insert will push out some of the contents when it is pressed in.
Nominal volume and brimful volume
The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck, and you can find it in the parameters. The difference between the two provides a reserve for the dropper insert and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.
Good to know
Before the first filling, we recommend washing the medicine bottle, disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and letting it dry completely. The same applies to the dropper insert and the cap, which can be removed from the medicine bottle and reused after washing. Glass withstands repeated use well; for the PP dropper insert, its service life depends on what the packaging contained before.
The dropper insert and the cap are made of plastic (PP and PE). With concentrated essential oils, strong solvents or preparations with a high alcohol content, we recommend checking how the dropper insert behaves with your specific formulation, especially during longer storage when filled.
Only the glass medicine bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The dropper insert and the cap do not have one, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made packaging + closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you combine parts yourself, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
Once empty, the glass goes into glass recycling, and the dropper insert and the cap go into plastics recycling. Before disposal, the plastic parts are removed from the medicine bottle.
