Product description
Glass medicine bottle, glossy black, with dropper insert and safety cap, 100 ml
A set for filling and dispensing liquid preparations drop by drop: a glass medicine bottle in glossy black with a volume of 100 ml, a long plastic dropper insert fitted into the neck, and a black ribbed safety cap. The dark black glass protects the contents from light, so the set is particularly suitable for face and hair oils, oil serums, essential oil blends, tinctures and other preparations whose ingredients lose their effectiveness or scent in light. The dropper insert dispenses the contents one drop at a time, and the safety cap closes the bottle.
The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the dropper insert and the cap do not, so the set is intended for cosmetic use.
How the set works
- Glossy black glass – the contents are protected from both daylight and artificial light, which you will appreciate with oils, essential oils and light-sensitive active ingredients. The glass does not react with oils or alcohol.
- Long dropper insert – the clear polypropylene (PP) dropper insert is pressed into the neck of the bottle and releases the contents drop by drop when the bottle is tilted. Dispensing is more precise than with free pouring, and your fingers do not come into contact with the contents during use.
- Safety cap – the black ribbed polyethylene (PE) cap with an 18/410 neck finish fits over the dropper insert and closes the bottle.
What it is suitable for
The set is most often used for oil serums for the face and hair, blends of carrier and essential oils, massage and bath oils, macerated herbal oils, alcohol tinctures and concentrated drops with active ingredients. The dropper insert is not suitable for thick preparations, creams or gels, as the contents would not flow through the narrow opening.
For concentrated essential oils and preparations with a higher proportion of solvents, we recommend checking how the plastic dropper insert and cap behave with your specific formulation before filling an entire batch.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed to hold when filled normally. The total brimful volume, stated in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference leaves room for the dropper insert. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it were overfilled, part of the contents would be pushed out when the dropper insert is pressed in.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the plastic parts, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Otherwise, residual water would get into an anhydrous oil preparation.
You cannot see through the dark glass how much is left or what condition the contents are in. Label the bottle with the name of the preparation and the date of production, and check the scent and consistency of the contents each time you open it.
Glass does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature. Let a hot preparation cool to at least room temperature before filling, and do not wash the bottle alternately with hot and cold water.
You control the dripping speed with the angle of tilt. If it drips too fast, hold the bottle closer to the vertical position and the drops will slow down. You can dispense the remainder at the bottom by turning the bottle upside down.
The set is intended for repeated use. After emptying, wash the bottle with warm water and a cleaning product, disinfect it and leave it to dry. Check the dropper insert and the cap for cracks or deformation; if they are cracked or deformed, replace them. The glass belongs in glass recycling, and the dropper insert and the cap are sorted as plastic.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you choose your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
