Product description

A glass bottle with dropper in a volume of 10 ml is a ready-to-use set for small quantities of liquid preparations dispensed by drops. Blue glass filters part of the light, offering better protection for light-sensitive contents than a clear container, and the glass dropper tube does not absorb fragrances or colorants. The set is particularly suitable for facial and oil serums, essential oil blends, perfume composition samples, tinctures, active ingredients in glycerine or oil solution, and for measuring small doses of raw materials in production. Both the bottle and the dropper are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

Why choose blue glass with a dropper

  • Light protection – blue glass transmits less light than clear glass, which slows down yellowing and loss of efficacy of oils, vitamins, essential oils and plant extracts. It is not a complete barrier, so store the container away from direct sunlight regardless.
  • Precise dosing – the dropper allows you to measure out a few drops without pouring and without finger contact with the contents, which is appreciated when working with concentrated serums and active ingredients.
  • Chemically inert packaging – the glass of the bottle and the glass dropper tube do not release any components into the contents and do not absorb odours, so the set can be used for a different preparation after washing without any residual scent.
  • Small volume for samples and testing – ten millilitres is enough for a test series, a customer sample, or a personal dose of serum that you will use up before the contents have a chance to degrade.

How the set works

The bottle is shaped like a vial with a short neck, onto which the dropper screws directly. The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb for suction, and an aluminium collar in silver. The black bulb with the silver collar creates a contrasting yet understated look against the blue glass. The length of the tube is matched to the height of the bottle so that it almost reaches the bottom, allowing the last of the contents to be dispensed.

Squeezing the bulb draws part of the contents into the tube and releases it drop by drop. Drop size depends on the viscosity and surface tension of the liquid. Thin aqueous solutions and alcohol tinctures drip quickly in smaller drops, while thick oils and serums with glycerine drip more slowly in larger drops. If you need precise dosing, check with your specific formulation how many drops correspond to the required amount.

Before first use, wash both the bottle and the dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in the tube would dilute oil-based serums and increases the risk of contamination in water-based products.

Nominal and total volume

For every container we state two volumes. Nominal volume is the quantity the container is designed for under normal filling conditions and the figure stated on the label. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them is the headspace for the dropper tube, which displaces some of the contents upwards once screwed in, and for liquid expansion with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Overfilling would cause the contents to enter the thread when the dropper is fitted and the neck would not seal properly.

What to know before filling

  • Oil and water-based contents – glass tolerates oils, alcohol tinctures, hydrolates and water-based serums. For water-based and hydrolate products, do not forget to include a preservation system. The packaging itself does not prevent microbial contamination, and air enters the bottle each time it is opened.
  • Concentrated essential oils – the glass tube resists them, but prolonged contact with the bulb and seal is not recommended. After dosing, allow the contents of the tube to drain back into the bottle and do not store the dropper with liquid drawn into it.
  • Glass and heat – fill with cooled content. A hot emulsion or heated butters can damage the glass if the temperature changes sharply, and the dropper is not designed for thick, solidifying preparations.
  • Repeated use – once empty, simply wash the set with warm water and detergent, rinse the tube by drawing and releasing clean water several times, and leave to dry. Check the bulb regularly; replace the dropper if it loses elasticity.
  • Labelling – the cylindrical shape allows you to apply a narrow wraparound label or a small front-facing sticker.
  • Shipping – the dropper seals under normal handling. When shipping thin liquids, however, we recommend testing the seal with your specific formulation and transporting the bottle in an upright position.

The set is declared for contact with cosmetic products. It is not intended for food, beverages, or household oils and syrups; for such purposes, choose packaging with food-contact certification.

Frequently asked questions

Does a blue glass bottle with a dropper protect the contents from light as well as brown glass?
Not entirely – blue glass blocks less light than brown, but significantly more than clear. For typical facial serums, oils and essential oil blends, the protection is sufficient as long as the container is not stored in direct sunlight. For raw materials that are exceptionally sensitive to light, such as certain vitamins in pure form, brown glass is the safer choice.
How many drops fit in a 10 ml dropper bottle?
Roughly several hundred drops, though the exact number depends on the density and viscosity of the liquid. Thin aqueous solutions produce small drops, while thick oils and glycerine serums produce large ones. If your formulation requires precise dosing, measure how many drops correspond to one millilitre with your specific product and state this conversion in the instructions for use.
Why is a glass dropper bottle not filled to the brim?
Because the dropper tube displaces some of the contents upwards when screwed in, and the liquid needs room to expand with temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the total volume at the neck. An overfilled bottle will overflow into the thread, the contents will come into contact with the seal, and the neck will no longer seal reliably.
Is a dropper with a silicone bulb suitable for pure essential oils?
Yes, on the condition that the essential oil does not remain in prolonged contact with the bulb. The glass tube resists essential oils, but silicone and the seal can soften or swell over time when in contact with concentrated oils. After dosing, allow the contents of the tube to drain back into the bottle and never store the dropper with liquid drawn into it.
Can a blue glass dropper bottle be reused?
Yes, both the glass and the dropper can be washed and reused. Wash the bottle with warm water and detergent, rinse the tube by drawing clean water in repeatedly, and before refilling disinfect both parts with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry. If the bulb has lost its elasticity or the tube has come loose from the collar, replace the dropper.
Is a 10 ml dropper bottle also suitable for water-based serums and hydrolates?
Yes, glass does not react with water-based contents and the dropper dispenses water-based serums precisely. However, any water-based preparation must include a preservation system, because air enters the bottle with each use and the contents can become contaminated through the tube. For hydrolates intended for spraying, a bottle with a spray nozzle is more suitable; the dropper is suited to serums and concentrates.
