Product description

Small oil bottle that dispenses precisely and without unscrewing. The set consists of a blue glass bottle with a nominal volume of 10 ml and a plastic oil pump dispenser with a transparent protective cap. Suitable for facial and beard oils, oil serums, carrier oil blends or samples. Blue glass reduces light exposure to the contents, which is appreciated for oils sensitive to light and oxidation. The dispenser delivers a small, repeatable dose with each press.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is intended for cosmetics, not for edible oils.

Why blue glass and a pump dispenser

Light protection – coloured glass lets through less light than clear glass, so oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E or essential oils in dilution will retain their scent and colour longer. It does not, however, replace an antioxidant in the formulation or cool storage.
Hygienic dispensing – fingers or a dropper that returns to the bottle never touch the contents. This reduces the risk of introducing contaminants into the oil.
Precise small dose – one press delivers approximately 0.18 ml, i.e. a few drops. For facial oils, where a few presses suffice, this is more convenient than estimating drops.
Glass with no odour memory – glass does not absorb the scent of the contents and does not react with oils or essential oils; the bottle can be washed and reused.
Transparent cap – protects the pump head from dust and accidental pressing in a handbag or travel bag.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for during standard filling. Total volume to the brim is slightly larger; the precise value can be found in the parameters. The difference is a margin for fitting the pump dispenser with its tube and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the neck. If overfilled, the oil will be forced out through the thread when the pump is screwed on, soiling the label and the surrounding area.

What products is it suitable for

facial and beard oils – liquid blends of carrier oils with essential oils at standard cosmetic dilution;
oil serums and dry oils with a light texture;
cuticle oils and small targeted preparations applied drop by drop;
samples and travel sizes of oil-based products.

The dispenser is designed for liquid oils and preparations of oil consistency. Do not use it for thick balms, butters, emulsions with higher viscosity or products with solid particles (scrubs, blends with powders); the tube and valve will clog.

Good to know

Preparation before first filling. Wash the glass with warm soapy water, rinse and disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Allow to dry completely; residual moisture promotes microbial growth even in anhydrous products. Rinse the dispenser, but do not soak it in hot water for extended periods.

The dispenser tube is supplied longer than the height of this bottle. Before first use, trim it at an angle with a sharp knife or scissors so that it reaches just above the bottom. If the tube is too long it will kink inside the small bottle and the dispenser will not draw up the contents.

First presses. After filling and screwing on the dispenser, press it several times without dispensing until the tube and head fill with oil. Bear this in mind when filling samples so that the customer receives the full volume.

Air and oxidation. The dispenser is not airless; with each press air enters the bottle. For oils prone to yellowing (linseed, hemp, rosehip), a smaller pack that is used up more quickly helps, or alternatively an antioxidant in the formulation.

Essential oils and plastic. Both the dispenser and the cap are made of plastic. Undiluted essential oils and solvents can degrade plastic over time. Therefore use the set for oils with essential oils at cosmetic dilution, and for unusual blends monitor how the dispenser behaves over several weeks beforehand.

Label. The bottle has a cylindrical shape. Degrease the surface before application, as oil on glass will cause the label to detach quickly.

Closures and combinations. The bottle has a neck with the thread type stated in the parameters. Additional closures with the same thread type and ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing performance with the specific formulation.

Recycling. Glass goes with glass; place the dispenser and cap in plastic waste after emptying. Separate them from the bottle before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Does a blue glass bottle protect oil from light completely?

No, blue glass reduces light but does not block it entirely. Compared to clear glass it transmits less light, which slows oxidation and loss of oil scent. For stability it is equally important to store the bottle away from direct sunlight, at room temperature or below, and to add an antioxidant to the blend if needed.

How much oil does the pump dispenser deliver in one press?

One full press delivers approximately 0.18 ml of oil, i.e. a few drops. The actual dose depends on the viscosity of the oil, temperature and whether the head is already primed after the first few presses. With thicker oils the dose may be slightly smaller.

Is the glass bottle with oil pump dispenser also suitable for water-based tonics or hydrolats?

No, the set is designed for oil-based preparations and we do not recommend it for water-based products. Water-based tonics and hydrolats require preservation, and with repeated air intake through the dispenser the risk of microbial contamination increases. Spray bottles are more suitable for water-based preparations.

Can the glass bottle with oil pump dispenser be reused?

Yes, after thorough washing and disinfection the glass bottle can be reused. Rinse the dispenser with warm soapy water and allow it to dry. If residues of solidified or oxidised oil remain inside that cannot be rinsed out, replace the dispenser to prevent spoiled oil from contaminating the new fill.

Why does the pump dispenser deliver nothing after filling the bottle?

The most common cause is an unprimed or kinked tube. Press the dispenser several times until the oil reaches the head. If it still delivers nothing, unscrew it and check whether the tube is too long and bent. If so, trim it so that it reaches just above the bottom.

Is the glass bottle with oil pump dispenser also suitable for culinary oils?

No, the set is not approved for food contact. All three components are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, so use it for facial, beard and body oils and similar cosmetic preparations. For home culinary oils choose a container with food-grade certification.
