Product description
The blue glass bottle with a black and gold dropper has a volume of 30 ml and is used for filling and precisely dispensing liquid cosmetic products that are applied by the drop. The blue glass partially reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, which you will appreciate with facial oils, serums and essential oil blends that lose their properties more quickly in light. The dropper and bottle form a ready-made set, so after filling you only need to screw it on and the product is ready for use or sale.
What it is used for
A volume of 30 ml corresponds to the usual size of a facial serum or face oil that is used up before the contents start to age. The dropper dispenses by the drop, so the set is particularly suitable for:
- Facial serums – both water-based and oil-based, dispensed in one to several drops per application.
- Face and beard oils – a small amount is drawn up without your fingers touching the contents of the bottle.
- Essential oil blends – the blue glass protects against light, and the dropper makes it easier to dispense into a carrier oil or diffuser.
- Liquid concentrates and tinctures – active ingredients that are added to cosmetics by the drop.
- Nail and cuticle oils.
How to work with the set
The dropper screws directly onto the neck of the bottle, and no additional closure or liner is needed. The glass tube of the dropper is in contact with the contents, and its length matches the height of the bottle, so it reaches all the way to the bottom. Squeezing the bulb draws the liquid into the tube, and it is then released drop by drop.
The size of the drop depends on the viscosity and surface tension of the liquid. A thin water-based serum forms smaller drops than a thicker oil. With a new product, therefore, do a test count of how many drops make up one dose, and state this in the instructions for use.
Check that a filled bottle is leak-proof by laying it on its side on absorbent paper for several hours. Do this before every shipment and whenever you change the composition of the filling, especially with low-viscosity oils.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 30 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume stated in the parameters is larger, because it includes the space up to the neck. This difference is a reserve for the dropper tube, which pushes the liquid level upwards once screwed in, and for the expansion of the liquid when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled up to the nominal volume. If you fill to the brim, the contents will overflow through the neck once the dropper is fitted.
Good to know
- Preparation before filling – before first use, wash the bottle and dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the tube dilutes the contents and increases the risk of microbial contamination in anhydrous oil-based products.
- Contact with cosmetics – the bottle and the dropper are declared suitable for use with cosmetic products, and a declaration of conformity is available for each component. The set is intended for cosmetic products.
- Essential oils and solvents – both the glass of the bottle and the glass tube of the dropper are resistant to essential oils. With undiluted essential oils and concentrated alcohol-based blends, test on one piece how the silicone bulb and the seal behave.
- Reuse – once empty, the bottle can be washed and refilled. With the dropper, rinse the tube and the bulb thoroughly; oily residues are removed by warm water with washing-up liquid. Then leave everything to dry.
- Other closures – other closures with the same type of thread also fit the neck of the bottle, and you will find ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. With your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with the specific formulation.
- Recycling – the glass bottle belongs in glass recycling, while the dropper combines several materials, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.
Fill only with a product that has cooled down. A hot filling straight after emulsification or after melting the oil phase can damage the glass through a sudden change in temperature, and the dropper is not designed for high temperatures.
