Product description
A ready-made combination of a blue glass bottle in a vial shape with a volume of 30 ml and a black plastic spray pump. Designed for thin liquid preparations applied as a fine mist – facial tonics and hydrolats, refreshing face and hair sprays, fragrant waters, herbal sprays or small samples of your own formulations. Blue glass reduces light penetration to the contents, helping to protect sensitive ingredients, while still allowing the fill level to be gauged. The small volume fits in a handbag, is ideal for travel or for a test batch before producing a larger quantity.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is designed for cosmetics and is not intended for filling with food.
Why choose this combination
- Protection of contents from light – blue glass lets through less light than clear glass, making it more suitable for tonics with plant extracts, hydrolats or alcohol-based preparations with essential oils that are damaged by light. It does not provide complete darkness like amber glass, but is sufficient for everyday facial sprays.
- Fine mist instead of a stream – the spray pump dispenses a small amount of liquid evenly distributed across the skin or hair. The preparation is applied economically and without dripping.
- Hygienic dispensing – the contents are not poured out and you do not touch them with your fingers, which is an advantage for water-based preparations where cleanliness matters.
- No odour from glass – a glass bottle does not absorb fragrances, which is particularly appreciated with hydrolats and fragrant waters.
What the set is suitable for
The spray pump works reliably with thin liquids – water-based, alcohol-based or mixed with solubilised oil. Typical uses:
- facial tonics, hydrolats and floral waters,
- refreshing sprays for the face and décolleté area,
- hair sprays and light glosses without an oil base,
- fragrant waters and alcohol-based perfume sprays,
- herbal hand sprays,
- samples and test batches of larger formulations.
Thicker oils, emulsions, gels and preparations with undissolved particles will not be dispersed evenly by the spray pump and may clog it over time. For such preparations, a vial with a dropper or pump dispenser is more suitable.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the amount for which the bottle is intended under standard filling conditions. Total volume to the rim is the physical volume up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the dip tube and the spray mechanism, which takes up some internal space once screwed on, and for expansion of the contents when temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim – otherwise the contents will be pushed out through the neck when the spray pump is fitted.
When filling for the first time, fill the bottle, slowly fit the spray pump and tighten it firmly. The first few presses will draw liquid into the dip tube and mechanism – only then will the spray pump begin to dispense mist.
Useful things to know when working with the packaging
Preparation before first filling. Before use, wash the bottle, rinse it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to dry completely. Rinse the spray pump with clean water or alcohol and spray it empty several times to remove any manufacturing residue.
Dip tube length. The dip tube of the spray pump can be trimmed with a sharp knife if necessary so that it ends just above the bottom of the bottle. A tube that is too long will bend inside the small vial and the mechanism will draw in less effectively.
Plastic and aggressive ingredients. The spray mechanism is made of polypropylene. For preparations with a high proportion of alcohol or with undiluted essential oils, we recommend first testing the set with the specific formulation for several weeks before a larger production run and monitoring both the seal and the smoothness of dispensing.
Glass and heat. The bottle is not intended for filling with hot contents or for sudden temperature changes. Allow the preparation to cool to room temperature before filling.
Preservation. Water-based preparations in a spray require a suitable preservation system, even though you do not touch them with your hands – the dip tube and mechanism remain in constant contact with the contents and air.
The spray pump is not an airtight closure. For longer storage of concentrates or transporting larger quantities, use a solid cap and fit the spray pump only when in use.
Labelling. The straight cylindrical body of the vial allows a narrow label to be applied around the entire circumference.
Reuse and recycling. The bottle can be refilled after washing and disinfection. When disposing of it, glass goes with glass and the plastic spray pump goes with plastics, so separate them before discarding.
Closures and combinations. Closures with the same neck type as stated in the product parameters, and other ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
