Product description

A blue glass bottle with a lockable dropper, 30 ml is a ready-to-use set for dispensing small volumes drop by drop: a blue glass vial with a black dropper featuring a lock against accidental opening. Blue glass limits light exposure to the contents, making the set particularly suitable for facial serums, oil blends, tinctures and concentrates where precise dosing and light protection matter.

The set is declared as suitable for cosmetic products, including oil-based, water-based and alcohol-based formulations.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial and hair serums – the dropper allows you to draw and apply a few drops without unnecessarily exposing the remaining contents to air.
  • Oil blends with essential oils – glass is resistant to essential oils and solvents, and the blue colour slows down the oxidation of sensitive oils caused by light.
  • Tinctures and alcohol-based concentrates – neither the glass bottle nor the glass tube of the dropper reacts with alcohol. We recommend verifying the silicone bulb and plastic parts of the cap with your specific formulation.
  • Samples and test batches – the small volume is practical when fine-tuning a formula, comparing one blend against another drop by drop.

How to work with the set

The dropper consists of a glass tube, plastic head and silicone bulb. The bulb is squeezed before immersion and released inside the contents, the tube fills up and the liquid is dispensed drop by drop. The length of the tube matches the height of the bottle, so the contents can be drawn from the bottom.

The lock on the cap prevents accidental opening, for example when carrying in a bag or handling multiple bottles at once. It does not, however, replace storing the product out of reach of children.

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The total capacity to the brim is slightly larger, and this difference provides a reserve for the submerged dropper tube and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If filled to the brim, the contents will overflow through the neck when the dropper is inserted.

Good to know

Before the first fill, we recommend washing and sanitising both the bottle and the dropper with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. Residual water in the tube or at the bottom would introduce moisture into an anhydrous serum or oil blend.

Glass tolerates heat well, but the contents should only be filled into the bottle once they have cooled down. A hot blend would stress the silicone bulb and the plastic parts of the cap. Inserting the dropper into warm contents also creates pressure inside the tube that pushes liquid outwards.

The set can be used repeatedly. The silicone bulb may soften or lose elasticity with prolonged contact with certain essential oils or solvents, so it is advisable to verify suitability with a test fill when using strong fragrances.

A label can be applied to the bottle. Light or white labels stand out best on dark blue glass.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. It is not approved for food use, so it should not be used for edible oils, syrups or herbal infusions intended for internal use.

At the end of its useful life, the glass bottle is recycled as glass. The dropper, made up of glass, plastic and silicone, is separated from the bottle.

Closures with the same neck type as listed in the specifications, and other ready-made combinations, are available in the Handymade range. When using your own bottle and cap combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance and packaging behaviour with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the blue glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, blue glass reduces light transmission and thereby slows down the oxidation of sensitive ingredients such as vegetable oils, vitamins and essential oils. It does not provide complete protection, however, so even a blue bottle should be stored away from direct sunlight. For contents that cannot tolerate any light at all, amber glass is worth considering.
How much can the bottle with a dropper hold?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, i.e. 30 ml, not to the brim. The remaining space up to the neck is a reserve for the dropper tube, which submerges into the contents when inserted and pushes some liquid upward, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If filled to the brim, the contents will overflow when closing.
Can the dropper with a lock be used for an oil serum with essential oils?
Yes, both the glass bottle and the glass tube of the dropper are resistant to oils and essential oils. The silicone bulb and the plastic head of the cap tolerate standard doses of essential oils in a serum, but at a high proportion of fragrance compounds or solvents they may soften over time. Compatibility should therefore be verified with a test fill.
Is the set suitable for water-based and alcohol-based contents?
Yes, the blue bottle with dropper is also suitable for tonics, tinctures and alcohol-based concentrates; glass does not react with water or alcohol. Water-based contents without a preservative spoil quickly in a dropper bottle, as they come into contact with air and skin with every application. A water-based product therefore requires a preservative regardless of the packaging.
How is the set prepared for repeated use?
Simply wash the bottle and dropper, rinse out the dropper tube, sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. When changing the contents, it is important to remove any residue of the previous blend from the tube and check that the silicone bulb has retained its elasticity and still seals properly. A worn dropper is replaced; the bottle continues to be used.
What does the lock on the dropper mean?
The lock makes it harder to open the cap accidentally, for example when carrying the bottle or handling several packages at once. It is not a substitute for safe storage; products should be stored out of reach of children even in this set. The lock has no effect on everyday drop-by-drop dispensing; once unlocked, the cap opens and closes like a standard dropper.
