Product description
Ready-made bottle and cap set for precise dispensing of small amounts: a blue glass vial with a nominal volume of 10 ml and a black dropper with a tamper ring that fits its neck. Suitable especially for facial serums, facial and nail oils, essential oil blends, active ingredient concentrates, tinctures, or samples for formula testing.
Blue glass filters part of the light that penetrates the contents, slowing down the oxidation of sensitive ingredients. Glass does not react with oils or essential oils, so the contents retain their scent and composition exactly as filled. Both the bottle and dropper are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.
What the set offers
- Precise dispensing – the dropper delivers one to several drops at a time, which you will appreciate with concentrated serums, oil blends and active ingredients where dosage matters.
- Light protection – blue glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents; for light-sensitive oils and extracts it is a more practical choice than clear glass.
- Tamper ring – when opened for the first time, the ring on the cap breaks and the customer can see the bottle has not been opened. When selling finished products, this is a useful trust element.
- Hygienic dispensing – the contents are dispensed without fingers touching the neck, reducing the risk of contamination of leave-on products used over several weeks.
- Consistent appearance – the black dropper against the blue glass looks cohesive and works well under a label without further adjustments.
How to use the dropper
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a plastic screw cap and a flexible bulb. Squeezing and releasing the bulb draws liquid into the tube; gentle squeezing then dispenses it drop by drop. With thicker serums, drops form more slowly; very thick gels or creams cannot be dispensed through a dropper. The set is therefore best suited for liquid and mildly viscous products.
Do not draw liquid all the way up into the bulb. Concentrated essential oils and certain solvents may, over prolonged contact, gradually soften or stain the flexible bulb material; the glass tube in contact with the contents has no issue. With essential oil blends, it is advisable to check the dropper's functionality after a few weeks.
Tighten the dropper cap by hand with moderate force, without forcing it. If overtightened, the plastic thread can deform and the cap will then seal less effectively than if tightened just firmly.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for during normal filling and is stated on the label. Total volume to the rim is the physical volume up to the neck and is always larger. The difference forms a reserve for the dropper tube, which takes up some space once screwed in, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim. When filled all the way to the neck, part of the contents would be pushed out when the dropper is inserted and could leak through the thread. Exact values for both volumes can be found in the product parameters.
Good to know
- Preparation before first filling – we recommend washing both the bottle and dropper, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allowing them to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based product can promote microbial growth and cloudiness.
- Glass and heat – the bottle tolerates normal use temperatures, but not sudden temperature changes. Allow a hot phase to cool before filling and do not fill a cold bottle with hot contents.
- Water-based products – water-based serums, tonics or hydrolate blends suit the dropper bottle just as well as oils, but require adequate preservation. Although the dropper reduces finger contact, air enters the bottle each time it is opened.
- Repeated use – both the glass and dropper can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. When changing the formula, it is better to replace the dropper.
- Other closures – closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle + cap combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and the packaging's behaviour with the specific formulation.
- Recycling – the glass bottle goes into glass recycling; the dropper is a combination of glass and plastic, so before disposal separate the glass tube from the plastic cap and bulb.
The set is not declared for contact with food. For home oils, syrups or herbal infusions intended for consumption, choose packaging that has this use stated in its parameters.
