Product description

The green glass bottle with a 100 ml volume and a glossy black dropper is supplied as a ready-made set, prepared for filling with face oils, serums and tinctures. The green glass blocks part of the light that would otherwise reach the contents, so it is particularly suitable for formulations with vegetable oils and light-sensitive active ingredients. The dropper dispenses drop by drop, which matters for concentrated products where only a few drops are applied per use. The medicine bottle shape with a narrow neck and cylindrical body stands stably and is easy to hold when dispensing with one hand.

What it is suitable for

The set is intended for cosmetic products where precise dispensing and protection of the contents from light are important:

  • Face and hair serums – both oil-based and water-based, applied drop by drop onto the palm or directly onto the skin.
  • Blends of essential oils in a carrier oil – massage, beard or nail oils, where the dropper makes it easier to measure the dose.
  • Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – glass does not react with alcohol and does not taint the contents with any odour.
  • Concentrated active ingredients – for example, solutions that are added drop by drop to a finished cream or mask.

The 100 ml volume is better suited to products for longer use or to smaller production batches than to samples.

How the set works

The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a glossy black cap with an aluminium shell and a plastic thread. Squeezing the bulb draws the contents into the tube, from which they are then released drop by drop. The length of the tube is matched to the height of the bottle, so it reaches almost to the bottom and the remainder of the product can be used up as well. The glossy black cap visually complements the green glass, so the set looks uniform even without any further finishing.

The viscosity of the contents affects how quickly the dropper dispenses. Thin oils and water-based solutions flow smoothly, while thicker serums are released more slowly and the drop is usually larger. For very viscous products, check the dispensing on a trial sample.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper, which takes up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume. If it were filled to the brim, the contents would overflow through the neck when the dropper is fitted.

When filling oils and serums, also leave free space in the neck so that the bulb can draw in again after being squeezed without pushing the contents out around the thread.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the tube or on the walls of the glass would get into the contents of anhydrous products.

Do not fill the glass with a hot mixture. A rapid change in temperature can damage the wall of the bottle, so let the contents cool to at least room temperature. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, check how the silicone bulb behaves with your specific formulation, as the bulb is in contact with the vapours inside the bottle.

Both the bottle and the dropper are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Declarations of conformity are available for the individual components of the set.

The set is not intended for food. Neither the bottle nor the dropper has a certificate for direct contact with food, so use them exclusively for cosmetic products.

The bottle has a neck with the thread given in the parameters. If you want to replace the dropper with another closure, you can find closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. With your own combination, check the tightness and the behaviour of the closure with your specific formulation.

Glass belongs in glass recycling. The dropper combines several materials, so before disposal separate the bulb and the cap from the glass tube.

Frequently asked questions

Does a green glass bottle with a dropper protect the contents from light?
Yes, green glass blocks part of the light and reduces its effect on the contents, but it does not shield them completely. Therefore, store oils and active ingredients that are sensitive to oxidation in the bottle away from direct sunlight. The green glass also allows you to roughly see how much product is left in the bottle.
How much product can be filled into a 100 ml glass bottle with a dropper?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The space above this level is a reserve for the dropper, which takes up part of the neck once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents during warmer storage. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents are pushed out through the neck when the dropper is fitted and soil the thread.
Is a green glass bottle with a dropper suitable for essential oils and tinctures?
The glass bottle is suitable for essential oils, oil blends and alcohol-based tinctures, as glass does not react with them. With concentrated essential oils, check how the silicone bulb of the dropper behaves during longer contact with the vapours in the bottle. Blends diluted in a carrier oil are dispensed through the dropper without any problems.
Can a glass bottle with a dropper be washed and reused?
Yes, the bottle and the dropper can be washed and reused once empty. Wash the glass with warm water and a cleaning product, and rinse the dropper by drawing in and expelling water several times. Before the next filling, disinfect both parts with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave them to dry completely, ideally in an upright position.
Can I use a closure other than the dropper on the green 100 ml glass bottle?
Yes, the bottle has the standard neck type given in the parameters, and other closures with the same thread can also be fitted. You can find the range of closures and ready-made combinations in the Handymade e-shop. With every new closure, check the tightness with your specific contents, especially with thin oils and alcohol-based solutions.
