Product description
A ready-to-use packaging set with closure for everything dispensed by the drop: a clear glass bottle in the vial shape with a nominal volume of 100 ml and a glass dropper with a glossy black cap. Suitable for facial serums, oil concentrates, blends of carrier and essential oils, tinctures and herbal macerates. Clear glass shows the colour and clarity of the contents, which is an advantage for oils and serums where appearance is part of the finished product's appeal.
Glass is chemically resistant, does not absorb fragrances and does not react with oils or alcohol. The contents therefore remain free of foreign odours and the packaging can be reused after washing. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The bottle alone also holds a certificate for direct food contact; the dropper does not carry this declaration. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics.
Why choose this set
- Precise dispensing – the dropper draws only the required amount without spilling and without finger contact with the contents. You will appreciate this with concentrated products applied a few drops at a time.
- Clear glass – colour, clarity and remaining volume are all visible. Glass also does not let in air or moisture and does not alter the scent of the contents.
- Contrasting appearance – a glossy black cap on a clear bottle looks clean and lets the label and the product itself stand out. Suitable for private-label products and gift packaging alike.
- Reusable – after thorough washing and drying, both the bottle and the dropper can be refilled.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for during normal filling. Total volume to the rim is the physical capacity up to the neck. Both values are listed in the specifications. The difference between them is the allowance for the glass tube of the dropper, which displaces some of the contents when screwed in, and for expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the rim. Otherwise, once the dropper is fitted, the contents will be pushed out through the neck.
Before the first fill, wash both the bottle and the dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based or anhydrous product would create conditions for microbial growth.
How the dropper works
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a flexible silicone bulb and a cap with an aluminium shell in glossy black. Squeezing the bulb draws the contents in; releasing it dispenses drops. The tube length is matched to the bottle height, reaching almost to the bottom so the contents can be used up without unnecessary waste.
It works best with liquid to slightly viscous contents: water-based serums, light and medium-weight oils, alcohol-based extracts. Thick oils such as castor oil or gel serums are drawn up slowly and drops form unevenly. For such formulations, a pump or another closure with the same neck type is more suitable.
Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Products sensitive to UV radiation – oils prone to oxidation, serums containing vitamin C or retinol, blends with essential oils – should be stored in a cardboard box or away from direct light, or a brown or blue glass bottle should be chosen instead.
Good to know
- Seal – the dropper closes the bottle for everyday use but is not a hermetic seal. Transport finished products upright and verify the seal with your formulation beforehand. Shrink wrap on the neck or a box has proved effective when shipping to customers.
- Silicone bulb – concentrated essential oils and certain solvents may affect it over time. With such contents, we recommend monitoring the dropper's behaviour for several weeks before using the set for a full production run.
- Temperature changes – glass tolerates heat but not sudden temperature shocks. Allow a hot oil phase or a freshly prepared extract to cool before filling and do not pour them into a cold bottle.
- Label – the straight cylindrical body of the vial makes label application straightforward. Bottle dimensions are listed in the specifications.
- Other closures – closures with the same neck type (listed in the specifications) and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and packaging behaviour with your specific formulation.
- Recycling – the bottle goes into glass recycling. The dropper is made up of several materials; before disposal, separate the glass tube from the bulb and cap.
