Product description
Glass medicine bottle, green, white safety cap, 10 ml
A small set for dispensing by the drop: a green glass medicine bottle with a volume of 10 ml, a short plastic dropper insert fitted in the neck and a white cap with an 18/410 neck finish. Tinted green glass lets through less light than clear glass, so it suits ingredients and products that lose their fragrance or effectiveness in light. The dropper insert in the neck prevents a larger amount from being poured out at once and allows you to count out an exact number of drops.
The whole set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not approved for food.
What it is suitable for
- Essential oils and fragrance compositions – the 10 ml volume matches the usual pack size of concentrated fragrances, and the dropper insert dispenses them by the drop straight into a formulation or an aroma lamp.
- Massage blends and facial oils – smaller amounts of rarer oils, where precise dispensing and protection from light are an advantage.
- Oil serums and concentrates – a few drops onto the palm or straight onto the skin.
- Samples and test batches – trial batches of fragrances or blends before you make a larger quantity.
How the set works in use
Fill the bottle, press the dropper insert into the neck and screw on the cap. To use it, simply tilt the bottle or gently turn it over and the contents come out drop by drop. The dripping speed depends on the thickness of the liquid: thin essential oils flow faster, thicker oils and serums more slowly. With very thick contents, such as ointments or gel textures, the dropper insert may not dispense reliably. Such products belong in packaging with an open neck.
Fit the dropper insert only after filling the bottle and press it in evenly around the whole circumference so that it sits firmly and seals. When you tilt the bottle for the first time, check that the contents drip smoothly and do not run out along the edge.
Volume and filling
The nominal volume of 10 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume, meaning the physical volume up to the neck, is larger and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between the two values forms a reserve for the dropper insert, which takes up part of the space in the neck when inserted. The bottle should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume. If it were filled to the brim, the contents would be pushed out when the dropper insert is fitted and could seep into the thread.
Good to know
Before first use we recommend washing the bottle and the cap, rinsing them with alcohol (isopropyl alcohol or ethanol) and leaving them to dry completely. Residual water in oil-based contents or essential oils causes cloudiness and reduces the stability of the product.
Materials: glass withstands essential oils and alcohol-based contents without limitation. The dropper insert is made of polypropylene (PP) and the cap of PP and PE. With concentrated essential oils, especially citrus ones, and with contents containing a higher proportion of solvents, we recommend testing the dropper insert with your specific formulation to check that it does not change shape or swell and that it still seals.
Reuse: the glass bottle can be reused after washing and disinfecting. The dropper insert is difficult to clean perfectly once removed from the neck and can be damaged when taken out. When you change the contents, we therefore recommend replacing it with a new one.
Glass and heat: the bottle is not intended for filling with hot contents or for heating. A sudden change of temperature can damage the glass.
Closures: caps and inserts with an 18/410 neck finish, as well as other ready-made combinations of medicine bottles with closures, are available in the Handymade range. If you put together your own combination, we recommend testing the sealing, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
The set is not approved for contact with food. Use it for cosmetic products, essential oils and fragrance preparations, not for edible oils, syrups or extracts intended for consumption.
Recycling: after use, the glass belongs in glass recycling and the plastic parts (dropper insert and cap) in plastics. Separate them from each other before disposal.
