FAQ – Most frequently asked questions

Is it possible to use this glass bottle repeatedly?

Yes, the glass packaging can be used repeatedly if hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, the bottle must be thoroughly cleaned, residues of the original contents removed, and then disinfected with a suitable alcohol preparation, for example isopropyl alcohol (IPA 99 %) or plant-based ethanol (ethanol 96 %). This reduces the risk of microbial contamination and the influence of the new formulation by residues of the previous product.

How to clean the bottle properly before reuse?

First mechanically remove the product residues by rinsing with warm water and a mild cleaning agent. Then rinse the packaging thoroughly with clean water so that no detergent residues remain in it. After drying, we recommend disinfecting the inner surface with a suitable alcohol preparation, for example products available on Handymade – IPA 99 % or ethanol 96 %. Only after the alcohol has completely evaporated is the bottle ready for new filling.

How can I safely dispose of and recycle this packaging if I do not want to use it repeatedly?

If you decide not to reuse the bottle, we recommend first emptying it and removing residual contents. Then place the glass part into the container intended for glass collection according to local recycling rules. The cap belongs in the appropriate sorted waste according to the material given in the product parameters. Before throwing away, it is advisable to separate the individual parts (bottle / cap) so that each material can go into the correct recycling stream and thus reduce the impact on the environment.

Can I use this bottle for different types of formulations (oils, aqueous solutions, alcohol-based preparations)?

The glass packaging is generally suitable for a wide range of cosmetic formulations, including oils, aqueous solutions and preparations containing alcohol. For each new recipe, however, we recommend performing a small trial test – fill a smaller volume of product, monitor the behaviour of the packaging and cap, any change in fragrance, colour or viscosity, and also verify long-term stability under the planned storage conditions.
