Tamanu oil comes from Asia and Polynesia, where it is still considered sacred. It occurs under various names such as Foraha, Domba, Kamanu, etc. It is an oil pressed from the seeds of the Calophyllum inophyllum tree. The kernels of the fruit are dried in the sun for two months, until they become sticky with a dark, dense and rich oil. During this period they must be protected from moisture and rain. From 100 kg of Tamanu fruit, only 5 kg of oil is produced.

Tamanu oil has a green to yellow-green colour and a typical rich and deep scent. At temperatures below 20°C it tends to solidify, therefore it is essential to warm it up before use. It naturally restores lipids in the skin, thereby stimulating collagen synthesis and improving the elasticity of the skin.
