Isoamyl Laurate is a natural, biodegradable emollient derived from 100% renewable plant sources - specifically isoamyl alcohol and lauric acid. This ingredient is used as a light functional oil in cosmetics where it provides a silky soft feel on the skin, improves spreadability and does not leave a greasy film. In addition, it is also highly valued as a UV filter carrier and pigment dispersant in sunscreen and decorative cosmetics. Isoamyl Laurate is skin friendly, non-comedogenic and suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

Use in formulation:

Isoamyl Laurate is easily absorbed into the skin and used as part of the oil phase of emulsions. The recommended dosage is 1-20%, depending on the type of product and the desired effect.
When used as a solubilizer for pigments, UV filters or actives, it is advisable to first prepare a premix which is then mixed into the rest of the formulation. It combines well with other natural emollients and esters.
