Product description

Crackling wooden wick is a special packaging component designed for the professional production of candles in glass containers, jars and other suitable packaging. Thanks to its construction, it ensures a stable burning core, even melting of the wax and a distinct crackling sound that resembles a fireplace fire. It is particularly suitable for liquid and more solid wax blends, where it supports controlled burning and comfortable home as well as artisanal use.

Possible uses

  • Poured candles in glass vials, jars and decorative containers
  • Candles made from natural waxes (e.g. soy, rapeseed, beeswax and their blends) in representative packaging
  • Aromatic candles with perfuming, essential oils and fragrance blends in designer pots
  • Decorative candles in cosmetic vials and jars that serve as an additional packaging element of the interior
  • Smaller serial and artisanal batches of candles intended for gift packaging and home cosmetics sets

Packaging advantages

  • Material stability – when properly combined with a suitable wax, the wooden wick provides consistent burning and good flame stability throughout the entire period of use.
  • Protection and user comfort – when used in a quality vial or jar, it helps create a safe and user-friendly burning system that minimises smoking when the wick is properly maintained.
  • Sound and visual effect – the characteristic crackling and the flame, in combination with suitable packaging, increase the perceived value of the final product.
  • Universal use – it is suitable for various types of waxes and packaging, while allowing you to adapt the final candle to the style of your brand.
  • Easy incorporation into the design – wood looks natural and aesthetic, so it harmonises very well with both minimalist and luxury packaging.

Combining with closures and dispensers

The wooden wick is used in combination with a suitable container – for example a glass vial, jar, pot or other stable packaging intended for candles. When selecting the packaging separately, it applies that these containers are compatible with various types of closures and dispensing systems (for example screw caps, droppers, sprayers or practical applicators) according to the selected parameters. Combinations of packaging and closures created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend performing your own compatibility test (sealing, dosing and the behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation), including when used in wax systems.

Technical parameters

All technical parameters of the packaging are given in the attached Packaging Quality Certificate and in the product parameters.

FAQ – Most frequently asked questions

How to correctly choose the size of the wooden wick for the selected packaging?

When selecting a wooden wick, it is important to consider the inner diameter of the vial, jar or container, as well as the type of wax used. We recommend starting with a test in the packaging in which you plan to sell the candle and monitoring the width of the melted wax layer, the height of the flame and any smoking. If necessary, it is advisable to try a nearby smaller or larger wick size until you achieve optimal burning in the specific packaging.

Can I reuse the packaging in which I use the wooden wick?

Yes, a suitable vial, medicine bottle, jar or pot for candles can be reused after the candle has burned out, provided that you follow basic hygiene principles. Before refilling, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the packaging from wax residues and impurities and then disinfect it, for example using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For disinfection, you can use the products IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured vegetable. This will ensure that the packaging is ready for further safe use.

How to take care of the wooden wick during candle use?

Before each lighting, we recommend checking the length of the wooden wick and gently removing any burnt wood residues so that the wick height is appropriate. This helps reduce smoking and ensures a stable flame. It is also important not to burn the candle in the container below the minimum safe wax level so that a protective layer remains between the flame and the bottom of the packaging.

You offer a lot of packaging – how can I find the right one for my product?

To easily find a suitable vial, medicine bottle, jar or pot, you can use the advanced filter in the packaging categories. This filter is located at the top of the page after clicking on a specific category and allows you to clearly sort the offer according to parameters such as neck type, size, colour and material. Thanks to this, you can quickly adapt your packaging selection to the required product type and to the design of your brand.

How to safely dispose of or recycle the packaging after the candle has burned out?

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend that, after removing wax residues, you put it into sorted waste according to the material specified in the parameters of the specific product on the Handymade website. Glass vials and jars generally belong in the glass container, plastic closures and components in the relevant plastic collection and metal parts in metal waste, if such a sorting option exists in your region. Following the recommended sorting by material from the parameter table helps ensure proper recycling of the packaging.
