FAQ – Frequently asked questions

How should the plastic spray pump be properly cleaned and prepared before first use?

Before the first filling, we recommend disassembling the spray pump to the extent that is safe (unscrewing the head from the bottle), rinsing the internal parts with drinking water and then drying them thoroughly. For cosmetic and artisan use, it is appropriate to disinfect the components with an alcohol-based preparation and allow the alcohol residues to evaporate. This minimises the risk of microbial contamination and extends the stability of your product.

Can this spray pump be reused when making your own cosmetics?

The spray pump can be reused as long as it is mechanically intact and retains its full functionality. For repeated use, hygiene rules must be observed – before each new filling, clean the packaging thoroughly and disinfect it with a suitable alcohol-based preparation, for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured, plant-based. After applying the alcohol, allow all parts to dry well so that residues of the cleaning agent are not transferred into the product.

For which types of products is this spray pump not suitable?

Spray pumps are generally not suitable for very thick emulsions, gels, balms or preparations containing larger solid particles that may clog the dip tube or nozzle. For formulations with a high proportion of oils or waxes, we always recommend performing a functionality test and, in case of problems, choosing a different type of dispensing (for example a pump dispenser or dropper).

How can I properly recycle the plastic spray pump if I no longer wish to use it?

If you decide not to reuse the spray pump, we recommend recycling it according to the type of plastic indicated in the product parameters and on the marking of the packaging itself. Before disposal, remove product residues by rinsing and place the individual components (bottle, head, cap) into the appropriate separated waste according to local collection rules.
