Soy lecithin is produced from soybean oil and is used in homemade cosmetics as an emulsifier.
An emulsifier is a substance that makes it possible to create a homogeneous mixture from otherwise immiscible liquids, e.g. water and oil. By adding an emulsifier to a mixture of water and oil, an emulsion is formed. These are, for example, creams, body lotions, shaving emulsions, cleansing oils and everything that contains oil and water. It has a honey-yellow colour, which it also imparts to the products into which you blend it.
Compared to other emulsifiers, soy lecithin does not modify the consistency of the cream, and therefore it must be combined, for example, with cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, shea butter, xanthan gum, etc. The creams produced will thus have a light texture, but they will obtain their final consistency only after standing (i.e. one day).
Soy lecithin excellently conditions the skin and uniquely smooths and softens it.
It is insoluble in water and soluble in oil. It is stable in the pH range 3 - 8.
Application: 3 - 5 %
