A white plastic bottle with a flip-top cap is a container for liquid to medium-viscosity cosmetic products dispensed by squeezing the bottle directly into the palm. The 100 ml volume is suitable for smaller production batches.

The bottle is made of PET, making it lightweight and shatterproof, unlike glass. This is practical in the bathroom, in the shower, and when travelling. The matte white cap complements the bottle and can be opened and closed with one hand.

What the set is suitable for

• Hair care – shampoos, conditioners and rinse-out masks of a thinner consistency that flow through the dispensing opening with light pressure.
• Shower and cleansing products – shower gels, liquid soaps, facial cleansing gels and intimate wash gels.
• Body care – body lotions, lighter emulsions and massage or body oils.
• Travel sizes and samples – smaller quantities for trialling a new formula or as part of a gift set.

Less suitable for very thick creams, butters and balms that are difficult to push through the narrow opening. Water-thin liquids, such as tonics, flow out too quickly and are hard to dose accurately.

How the flip-top dispenses and seals

The cap screws onto the bottle neck and does not need to be unscrewed during use. Simply flip the lid open and squeeze the product through the small opening. The amount dispensed is controlled by the force of the squeeze, giving a smaller and more precise dose than pouring from a wide-neck bottle. When the lid clicks shut, it seals the opening and the bottle stays clean during normal use.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling conditions and is stated in the product name. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the cap and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

What to know before filling

• Container preparation – wash and disinfect the bottle and cap with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol before first use and allow to dry completely. Water residue inside the container increases the risk of microbial contamination of the product.
• Contact with cosmetics and food – the set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The bottle holds a separate certification for direct food contact; the set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics.
• Labelling – apply the label to a dry and degreased surface. Dimensions required for label design are listed in the product parameters.
