Product description

A glass bottle, an amber dropper vial with a black cap and dropper, 10 ml is a ready-made set for small volumes of liquid preparations dosed drop by drop. Amber glass protects the contents from light, making the set suitable for essential oil blends, facial serums, oil elixirs, tinctures and concentrated active ingredients that lose quality when exposed to light. The dropper and cap are included; simply fill the bottle, insert the dropper and screw on the cap.

The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the glass bottle individually holds a certificate for direct food contact; the set with dropper and cap is intended for cosmetic preparations.

How the set works

After filling, the dropper is inserted into the bottle neck and the cap is screwed on over it. The contents are dispensed by inverting the bottle, drop by drop, without squeezing and without the fingers coming into contact with the contents. The long dropper format is designed for glass vials with this type of neck and holds securely once inserted.

The drip rate depends on the viscosity of the contents. Thin essential oil blends, alcohol tinctures and water-based preparations flow quickly; thicker vegetable oils and serums flow more slowly. The dropper is not suitable for thick gel or cream preparations, as the contents do not pass through the small opening and a different type of packaging is more appropriate.

The seal is provided by the screw cap in combination with the inserted dropper. Additional closures for the same neck type and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with the specific preparation.

When filling with your own formulation for the first time, check the seal: screw the bottle shut, lay it on its side and after a few hours check that the contents are not leaking.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume for which the packaging is intended for regular filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is higher. The difference between them is a reserve for the inserted dropper, for expansion of the contents with temperature changes and for safe closing without spillage. Both values are stated in the specifications; fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle, dropper and cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Residual water in anhydrous preparations shortens their stability.
  • Reuse – the glass bottle can be reused after washing and disinfecting. Check the plastic dropper and cap before each reuse and replace them if there is any change in colour, absorbed odour or deformation.
  • Glass and heat – do not pour hot mixtures into the bottle and avoid sudden temperature changes. Allow oil phases to cool before filling.
  • Plastic and concentrated substances – both the dropper and cap are made of plastic. With neat essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, verify the dropper's behaviour with the specific formulation and check it regularly during long-term storage.
  • Labelling – apply the label to dry, degreased glass before filling. Label dimensions are given in the specifications.
  • Recycling – before disposal, separate the glass from the plastic parts. The bottle goes into glass, the dropper and cap into plastics.

The set is not intended for food. For home-use oils, syrups or herbal infusions, use a glass bottle with a closure that holds a food-contact certificate.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 10 ml amber glass vial protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass reduces light transmission and slows down light-induced changes in the contents. It is therefore suitable for essential oils, serums with sensitive active ingredients, oils prone to oxidation and tinctures. It does not provide complete light protection, however; the bottle should be stored away from direct sunlight.
How much can be filled into the 10 ml vial with dropper?
Fill to the nominal volume of 10 ml, not to the brim. The total bottle volume is higher and the difference provides a reserve for the inserted dropper and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If overfilled, the contents leak during closing and the dropper does not seat correctly.
Is the glass vial with dropper suitable for essential oils and alcohol tinctures?
Yes, the glass bottle is suitable for oil-based, alcohol-based and water-based preparations. The dropper and cap are made of plastic, so with neat essential oils and fragrance compositions we recommend verifying their behaviour with the specific blend. The set is not suitable for thick gels and creams, as the contents do not pass through the dropper.
Can the glass vial with dropper be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Check the plastic dropper and cap before each reuse and replace them if there is any change in colour, absorbed odour or deformation. Allow all parts to dry completely before filling.
Is the vial set with dropper and cap suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. Only the glass bottle individually holds a food-contact certificate; the dropper and cap do not. The set with dropper is therefore intended for cosmetic preparations such as serums, oil blends or tinctures for external use.
