Amber Glass Bottle, White Smooth Matte Dropper, 50 ml

A brown glass dropper bottle is a complete set for drop-by-drop dispensing: the brown glass bottle protects the contents from light and the white matte dropper with a smooth cap allows precise measurement of small amounts. The set is especially suitable for facial serums, facial and hair oils, essential oil blends, tinctures and concentrated active ingredients that are applied drop by drop and are harmed by light.

What is a dropper and how to use it

The dropper consists of a glass tube, a plastic threaded cap and a silicone bulb. Squeezing and releasing the bulb draws in the liquid; squeezing again releases it drop by drop. The tube is long enough to reach almost to the bottom of the bottle, so the contents can be dispensed even at a low fill level.

The dropper is designed for thin to medium-viscosity liquids: oils, water- or glycerin-based serums, tinctures and concentrates. Thick gels, cream emulsions or products with undissolved particles do not draw well through the thin tube and will clog it. For such textures, a different type of closure is more suitable.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended under normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. This difference is not a defect but a margin: when the dropper is screwed in, the glass tube is submerged into the bottle and pushes some of the contents upward. The contents also need space when they expand slightly with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Filling right up to the neck would cause the contents to overflow when the dropper is inserted, or to enter the thread and compromise the seal.

Suitable for products such as

• Facial serums – both water-based and oil-based, with light-sensitive active ingredients such as vitamin C, retinol or plant extracts.
• Facial and hair oils – blends of vegetable oils, beard oil, cuticle oil, where precise drop-by-drop application is practical.
• Essential oil blends – massage oils in small packaging, aromatherapy blends and oil-based perfumes without alcohol.
• Tinctures and alcohol extracts – brown glass protects the extract from light, the dropper allows precise dosing.
• Concentrates for home production – diluted active ingredients, dye solutions or fragrance compositions that are added drop by drop to a larger formulation.

Good to know

Preparation before first filling. Before filling with cosmetics, we recommend washing the container, disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing it to dry completely. Residual water in the bottle could spoil an anhydrous oil product or dilute the preservation system in a water-based product.

Contact with food. The glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The dropper does not have this certificate, so the complete set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. If you need packaging for food use, choose a closure with the appropriate food contact certificate for the bottle.

Glass and heat. Glass withstands normal filling temperatures, but do not expose it to sudden temperature differences, such as pouring a hot phase into a cold bottle. Let the contents cool before filling to at least a temperature at which they can be safely held in the hand.

Labelling. The smooth cylindrical shape of the bottle allows a label to be applied around the entire circumference. For oil-based products, we recommend a grease-resistant label so that it does not smear during dropper use.

Recycling. The bottle goes in glass recycling. The dropper consists of several materials and is sorted according to the predominant component at end of life.
