Product description
This black glossy glass bottle with a capacity of 50 ml and a white dropper is intended for cosmetics that are dispensed drop by drop: facial oils, oil and water serums, blends with essential oils, or herbal extracts for cosmetics. The opaque black glass blocks light, so contents sensitive to oxidation, for example oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or serums with vitamin C, remain protected from light.
The dropper with a white matte smooth cap forms a ready-made set with the bottle, with an 18/410 neck finish. The contents are dispensed by squeezing the bulb, which draws them into the glass tube and releases them drop by drop, without tilting the bottle and without your fingers touching the product. Glossy black with matte white suits the simple design of your own brand as well as home production.
What it is good for
- Facial and body oils – dispensing drop by drop prevents overdosing and the black glass protects the oil from light.
- Oil and water serums – the 50 ml capacity suits serums with active ingredients that should be used up within a shorter time.
- Essential oil blends and aromatherapy products – with the dropper you can measure an exact number of drops into a diffuser or carrier oil.
- Herbal extracts and tinctures for cosmetics – the glass is resistant to ethanol and does not change the scent of the contents.
- Beard, hair or nail oil – the smaller capacity and precise dispensing suit products that are used in small amounts.
Filling and dispensing
The bottle has a nominal capacity of 50 ml. This is the volume the packaging is designed for in normal filling. The brimful capacity, that is the physical volume up to the neck, is somewhat larger and you will find it in the parameters. The difference provides a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which pushes part of the contents upwards once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill only up to the nominal capacity, never to the brim.
The glass tube reaches deep into the bottle, so even the remainder of the contents at the bottom can be dispensed. With thicker oils or serums containing a thickener, drops form more slowly and their size varies. Check with your own product how many drops correspond to the required dose.
Before pouring, let the formulation cool to room temperature. Warm contents expand after closing, may push the oil into the bulb, and once cooled draw air in through the thread.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let them dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based product promotes the growth of microorganisms and shortens its shelf life. The same procedure applies for every repeated use.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity is available with the product. The glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact, whereas the dropper does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a PP cap and a silicone bulb. Glass is resistant to oils, ethanol and essential oils. Silicone and PP come into contact with the contents only if the tube is filled too high or the bottle lies on its side. With concentrated essential oil blends, store the bottle upright, dispense with a lighter squeeze of the bulb, and check whether the bulb softens or loses its shape over time.
Closures with the same 18/410 neck finish and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
The glass is not intended for sudden temperature changes. Do not heat the bottle on a hob and do not pour a hot phase into it directly from the pot. Cracks in dark-coloured glass are easy to overlook.
The bottle goes into glass recycling. Before disposal, take the dropper apart: the glass tube goes into glass, the PP cap and the bulb into plastic according to the material marking.
