Product description

Glass bottle with fine mist sprayer for toners, mists and sprays

This set of a matte amber glass bottle with a volume of 30 ml and a black fine mist sprayer with a smoky overcap is ready to fill, so you do not need to choose the closure separately. Amber glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents, which you will appreciate with hydrosols, toners and sprays containing plant extracts or essential oils. The sprayer turns water-based contents into a fine mist, so it suits face mists, refreshing toners, hair sprays, perfumed waters and hand sprays. The size of this medicine bottle is suitable for samples, travel packs or smaller batches where you do not want to open a larger volume.

Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is intended for cosmetics and is not approved for contact with food.

How the set works

  • Protection from light – amber glass filters out part of the light that accelerates oxidation and the breakdown of sensitive ingredients. Even so, keep the filled bottle out of direct sunlight.
  • Sprayer – each press releases approximately 0.12 ml, which is enough to spray a toner or mist evenly onto the face without running. You do not touch the contents with your hands, so fewer microorganisms are introduced into the rest of the product.
  • Smoky overcap – the dark, see-through overcap protects the nozzle from dust and from being pressed accidentally in a bag, and you can still see whether the head is clean.
  • Glass – it does not react with common water-based, alcohol-based or oil-based contents, does not absorb fragrance, and can be washed and reused.

Good to know

The sprayer is designed for low-viscosity liquids: water, hydrosols, toners, alcohol solutions, sols and very light mist-type emulsions. Thick oils, serums with a thickener and creams will not pass through it, or they will spray in drops and the head will gradually clog. For sprays with an oil component, a solubiliser helps keep the contents clear and fluid.

For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or other solvents, we recommend checking how the plastic parts of the sprayer behave on a small test batch. After several weeks, check the seal, any discolouration of the plastic and how smoothly it sprays.

Before the first filling and before every reuse, wash the bottle and sprayer, disinfect them and let them dry completely. You will find the step-by-step procedure in the answer to the cleaning question below.

Glass does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature. Let hot contents cool before filling, and do not rinse the bottle with cold water immediately after hot water.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 30 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total volume to the brim, given in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the tube and body of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Once the sprayer is screwed on, the level rises by the volume of the immersed tube, and an overfilled bottle will overflow or cannot be tightened.

The sprayer tube is longer than the height of the bottle. Before first use, shorten it so that it reaches the bottom and as much of the contents as possible can be drawn up. Then press the head several times until the tube fills and the spray starts to atomise evenly.

If you want to combine this bottle with a different closure, choose according to the neck type given in the parameters. You will find ready-made bottle and closure combinations in the Handymade range. With your own combination, check the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Once emptied and rinsed, the glass bottle belongs in glass recycling. The sprayer is made of polypropylene and goes in plastics.

Frequently asked questions

Is a matte amber bottle with a sprayer suitable for hydrosol?
Yes, it is one of the suitable types of packaging for hydrosols and toners. Amber glass limits exposure to light, which is harmful to hydrosols, and the sprayer turns water-based contents into a fine mist without you touching them. A hydrosol still needs to be preserved, as the packaging does not replace a preservative.
Can this sprayer be used to spray oil?
No, pure vegetable oil and oil serums are not suitable contents. The sprayer is designed for low-viscosity water-based liquids; thicker contents come out in drops or not at all, and the nozzle clogs. If you want a spray with an oil component, formulate it with a solubiliser or as a very light oil and alcohol blend, and test the result beforehand.
How much liquid fits into a 30 ml bottle with a sprayer?
You should fill it with approximately 30 ml, that is, up to the nominal volume. The physical volume of the bottle to the neck is slightly larger and you will find the exact value in the parameters, but the tube and body of the sprayer take up this reserve. If you fill the bottle higher, the contents will run out through the neck when you screw on the head.
How do I clean a glass bottle with a sprayer before reuse?
Wash the bottle in warm water with a mild cleaning product, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it air dry. Spray clean water through the sprayer several times to rinse the tube and nozzle, then disinfect it as well and let it dry thoroughly, otherwise water will remain in the head. The fragrance of the previous contents does not linger in glass, but it may partly remain in the plastic parts.
Is this set suitable for alcohol-based sprays and perfumed waters?
Yes, glass tolerates alcohol solutions and the 30 ml format is common for eau de toilette and refreshing sprays. With a high content of alcohol and essential oils, check the plastic parts of the sprayer beforehand on a smaller batch, especially the tightness and consistency of spraying. The smoky overcap also protects the nozzle from being pressed accidentally when carried in a bag.
