Glass is generally considered a stable and inert packaging material, also suitable for preparations with a higher proportion of active substances or aromatic components. However, for every new formulation we recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – check the behaviour of the product in contact with the packaging and dropper over several days to weeks and verify whether any changes in appearance, consistency or scent occur.

The glass bottle can be reused if hygiene principles are followed. Before each new filling it is important to clean the packaging thoroughly, remove residues of the original product and then disinfect it with a suitable preparation, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. In the Handymade range you will find, for example, the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol and ethanol 96 % denatured, plant-based, which are suitable for disinfecting packaging before repeated use. Only after cleaning and disinfection do we recommend filling the bottle again.

First we recommend rinsing the bottle with warm water and dishwashing liquid, or a suitable cleaning agent that removes both oily and aqueous residues. It is then advisable to rinse the packaging thoroughly with clean water, let it dry completely and only then carry out disinfection using an alcohol solution. The dropper must be cleaned gently, without mechanically damaging the rubber or plastic parts. After disinfection, allow all components to air-dry in a clean, dust-free place.

The surface of the bottle allows the use of self-adhesive labels of various shapes, or printing according to your production capabilities. When designing the label, do not forget to take into account the legal requirements for the labelling of cosmetic or technical products and to leave sufficient space for a legible display of the composition, batch number and minimum durability date.

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, its recycling is recommended according to the types of materials specified in the product parameters. The glass part can normally be placed, after emptying and basic rinsing, in the appropriate glass container. The closure with dropper consists of several components (plastic, rubber, possibly metal elements), so it is advisable to follow the recommendations for waste sorting according to local rules and the material composition specified for the product on the Handymade website.
