Product description

This small glass pharmaceutical bottle with a volume of 10 ml and a screw-on aluminium cap is a ready-to-use set for filling smaller quantities of cosmetics. It is suitable for oil serums, essential oil blends, fragrance concentrates and facial oils, as well as for samples and testers that you want to hand out to customers or set aside to compare formulations. The clear glass shows the colour and clarity of the contents, so it works well wherever the result is meant to be seen. The thick base gives the bottle weight, so it stands more securely on a workbench and on a shelf. Both the bottle and the cap are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

  • Oil serums and facial oils – glass does not react with vegetable or essential oils and does not absorb their scent.
  • Essential oil blends and fragrance concentrates – the small volume matches the amount of concentrate that is actually used.
  • Samples and testers – 10 ml is enough to try out a cream, serum or toner. The set is light and does not take up much space, even in larger quantities.
  • Test batches during formulation – through the clear glass you can see whether the contents have turned cloudy, separated or changed colour.
  • Alcohol-based preparations – tinctures, perfume waters and facial toners containing alcohol, which the glass withstands.

The bottle and cap as a set

The cap is made of aluminium, is light and does not break if dropped. Inside it has an EPE liner, which sits against the neck of the bottle when tightened and seals the contents. Both the bottle and the cap have an 18/410 neck finish, so the two parts fit together exactly and nothing else needs to be bought. The silver surface looks neutral and suits clear glass whatever the colour of the contents.

The set includes neither a dropper nor a pump; the contents are poured or measured out separately. If you need to dispense drop by drop, you will find closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations of bottle and closure in the Handymade range. If you combine parts yourself, we recommend checking the tightness and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 10 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the rim of the neck and is stated in the parameters. The difference between the two values provides a reserve for the closure, or for a dropper or pump, and also leaves room for the contents to expand when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill up to the nominal volume, not to the rim.

When filling oils and concentrates, leave some free space below the neck. The cap can then be tightened without pushing the contents onto the thread, and the liner seals cleanly.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual moisture in an oil-based or anhydrous product is undesirable.

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Store essential oils, oils sensitive to oxidation and preparations with light-sensitive active ingredients in the dark, or choose dark glass for them. Clear packaging makes sense where you want to show the contents or where the product is used up quickly.

Glass does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature. Let hot mixtures cool before filling, at least to a temperature at which they can be handled safely, and do not place the bottle straight from the cold into hot water.

The cap liner is made of a flexible material. If you reuse it, check that it is not deformed or soaked with the contents. The glass itself is suitable for repeated filling; it only needs to be washed thoroughly and disinfected again.

The set is not approved for contact with food. Use it for cosmetic preparations, not for edible oils, syrups or infusions intended for consumption.

Glass belongs in glass recycling and the aluminium cap in metal recycling; separate the two parts before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear 10 ml glass bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. It is suitable for preparations that are used up quickly, stored in the dark, or whose colour and clarity you want to show. For essential oils, oils sensitive to oxidation and light-sensitive active ingredients, dark glass is more suitable.
How much can you actually fill into a 10 ml glass bottle with an aluminium cap?
The bottle is designed for a nominal volume of 10 ml, and you fill it up to this level, not to the rim. The brimful capacity is larger and is stated in the parameters. The difference provides a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, so that nothing is pushed onto the thread when the cap is tightened.
Is a 10 ml glass pharmaceutical bottle suitable for essential oils and alcohol-based preparations?
Yes, glass is suitable for essential oils, fragrance concentrates and alcohol-based preparations, as it does not dissolve and does not absorb scent. With concentrated essential oils, check the cap liner after some time to make sure it still seals. Clear glass does not protect against light, so store such contents in the dark.
Can a 10 ml glass bottle with an aluminium cap be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the cap can be used more than once. It is enough to wash the glass thoroughly, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry. Check the cap liner before the next filling. If it is deformed or soaked with the previous contents, it may no longer seal, and it is better to replace the cap.
Which closure fits a 10 ml glass pharmaceutical bottle with an 18/410 neck?
Any closure with an 18/410 neck finish fits the bottle, and the supplied silver aluminium cap has the same neck finish. If you need to dispense drop by drop or spray, you will find closures with this neck type and ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you combine parts yourself, we recommend checking the tightness and the behaviour of the closure with your specific formulation.
