Product description

The glass bottle with an aluminium cap, 100 ml, is a ready-made packaging and closure set for filling liquid cosmetic preparations – facial and body oils, serums, toners, hydrosols or facial waters. The base is a clear glass bottle with a narrow neck, closed by a silver aluminium cap. The transparent glass lets the contents stand out, so the set is especially suited to products whose colour or clarity you want to show off, or that will be stored away from direct light. The whole set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.

Why choose this set

  • Glass with no odours and no reaction with the contents – glass does not absorb fragrances or dyes. It does not react with oils, alcohol extracts or essential oils, so it is also suitable for more concentrated preparations that would damage plastic packaging over time.
  • Narrow neck for controlled dispensing – the bottle lets you pour the contents in small amounts, which you will appreciate with oils, serums or tinctures.
  • Aluminium cap with a sealing liner – inside the cap there is a liner made of expanded polyethylene (EPE), which seats on the rim of the neck and prevents the contents from leaking.
  • Clear glass shows the remaining amount – both the customer and the producer can see how much preparation is still in the bottle, as well as its colour and clarity.
  • Reusable packaging – after thorough washing and disinfection the glass can be filled again, and with careful handling the aluminium cap withstands several opening cycles.

Nominal and total volume

For every type of packaging we distinguish two figures. The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is intended for under normal filling – for this bottle it is 100 ml. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is always somewhat larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents during temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise, after screwing on the cap, the contents would be forced out through the neck and the sealing liner might not seat correctly. You will find the exact values of both volumes in the product parameters.

Filling and handling the packaging

Before the first filling we recommend washing the bottle with warm water and a mild detergent, rinsing it, disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and letting it dry completely with the neck facing down. The cap just needs to be wiped with disinfectant on the outside and inside and left to air out. Do not soak the sealing liner in solvents for long periods.

When filling thicker oils or serums, use a funnel with a narrow stem so the contents do not remain on the thread of the neck. Residues on the thread impair the seal and can over time „glue“ the cap in place. After filling, tighten the cap by hand so that the sealing liner seats. Excessive force does not improve tightness and can deform the aluminium cap.

Store light-sensitive contents (essential oils, oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, preparations with vitamin C) in a clear bottle in the dark or in a box. If you need protection from light from the packaging itself, choose brown or blue glass.

Suitable for products such as

  • Facial and body oils – glass does not react with oils and the narrow neck allows pouring drop by drop; 100 ml is a common size for both massage and treatment oils.
  • Serums and facial waters – the cap with a sealing liner ensures a tight closure between uses.
  • Hydrosols and toners – water-based preparations that are dispensed onto a cotton pad or into the palm. With hydrosols, count on preservation; the packaging alone does not ensure microbial stability.
  • Alcohol tinctures and extracts – ethanol does not harm glass and the contents retain their properties in it.
  • Samples and smaller batches – when testing formulations or selling trial packs, 100 ml is a practical size that you can see in full through the glass.

What is good to know

The set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products. The glass bottle on its own has certification for direct food contact, but the aluminium cap does not have this assessment. The set as a whole is therefore not declared for food use.

Glass is resistant to normal filling temperatures, but it does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not pour a hot mixture into a cold bottle or vice versa, as the glass may crack. Let the contents cool to roughly room temperature, or warm the bottle beforehand to a similar temperature.

The aluminium cap has a light silver finish that matches clear glass and looks neutral under any label. Transparent labels, through which the contents are visible, also look good on clear glass.

Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle + closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

For preparations with a markedly acidic or alkaline pH, or with a high proportion of essential oils, we recommend checking before a larger batch how the cap and sealing liner behave during longer contact with the contents. Set the filled bottle aside for several weeks and check the tightness and the appearance of the liner.

Glass belongs in separated glass collection. Unscrew the aluminium cap and dispose of it separately with metals; the sealing liner is made of plastic, so remove it from the cap before recycling if your local system requires it.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear glass bottle protect the contents from light?
No, transparent glass does not protect the contents from light. Light passes through clear glass almost without restriction, so this set is suitable for preparations that are not light-sensitive, or that will be kept in the dark or in a box. For oils with essential oils, vitamin C or other light-sensitive substances, brown or blue glass is safer.
Is the 100 ml glass bottle with aluminium cap set suitable for food?
The set as a whole is not declared for food contact. The glass bottle on its own has certification for direct food contact, but the aluminium cap does not have this assessment. The set is intended for cosmetic products – oils, serums, toners or tinctures for external use.
How much content does a 100 ml bottle really hold?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The physical volume up to the neck is somewhat larger, and this difference serves as a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents during temperature changes. If you overfill the bottle, the contents will be forced out through the neck after the cap is screwed on and the sealing liner will not seat correctly. The exact total volume to the brim is stated in the parameters.
Can the glass bottle with aluminium cap be reused?
Yes, both the glass and the aluminium cap are suitable for reuse. Wash the bottle with warm water and detergent, rinse it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry with the neck facing down. Check the cap before the next use. If the sealing liner is cracked, deformed or saturated with the previous contents, replace it with a new one, otherwise the bottle will not seal.
Is the transparent 100 ml glass bottle suitable for alcohol tinctures and essential oils?
Yes, glass is resistant to both ethanol and essential oils and does not change the properties of the contents. With a high proportion of essential oils, we recommend checking the tightness and the condition of the cap's sealing liner after several weeks before a larger batch. Store light-sensitive contents in clear glass in the dark.
How do you dispense oil or serum from a narrow-necked bottle?
Oil or serum is dispensed from the bottle by tilting it and pouring in small amounts; the narrow neck naturally slows the flow. For more precise drop-by-drop dispensing, it is better to replace the cap with a dropper of the same neck type. Ready-made combinations as well as separate closures can be found in the Handymade range.
