Product description
This glossy black 15 ml glass bottle with a silver aluminium cap is a ready-made set for small packs of cosmetics where protecting the contents from light matters. Opaque black glass suits face serums, oil blends, perfume oils and concentrates with active ingredients that lose effectiveness or change colour in light. The cap with an 18/410 neck finish closes the bottle tightly, and the glossy glass with silver metal looks like packaging that is ready for sale or gifting.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.
What the set is suitable for
- Face and hair serums – the small volume matches normal consumption with daily use, so the contents are not left opened and exposed to air for months on end.
- Oil and fragrance blends – glass does not react with essential oils or alcohol bases, and the black colour limits the access of light, which speeds up the oxidation of oils.
- Samples and trial packs – 15 ml is enough for a trial pack of a new formulation for customers or for a travel pack.
- Concentrates of active ingredients – vitamin C, retinoids and light-sensitive plant extracts are protected from light in opaque packaging.
How the set works
The bottle has a medicine bottle shape with a narrower neck, which is convenient for pouring in even from a smaller container. The aluminium cap has an inner EPE liner, which sits against the neck when tightened and seals the contents. The cap is unscrewed and screwed on by hand, without prying.
Black glass is opaque, so neither the contents nor their amount can be seen from the outside. The fill level is checked by weighing or by opening the bottle.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 15 ml is the amount the bottle is intended for in normal filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the top of the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them leaves room for the closure and allows for the contents expanding slightly when warm. If you fill the bottle to the brim, part of the contents will be pushed out when closing and the closure may not seal.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water would introduce moisture into an anhydrous product and could encourage the growth of microorganisms.
Glass tolerates heat, but not a sudden change of temperature. Pour warm contents into a bottle warmed to room temperature, and let them cool before closing so that the liner in the cap sits against the neck without deformation.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you combine the bottle with a different closure yourself, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing directly with your formulation.
Tighten the aluminium cap with moderate force. Overtightening deforms the metal shell and it stops sealing. Do not reuse a cap that has been overtightened.
The bottle can be used repeatedly. After washing and disinfection it is ready for the next filling; with each new use, check that the liner in the cap sits properly. When recycling, separate the packaging components: the glass belongs in glass recycling and the aluminium cap in metals.
