Product description

A clear glass bottle with an aluminium cap, 15 ml, is a complete packaging and closure set for small cosmetic volumes. It is especially suited for samples, testers and travel sizes of facial and body oils, serums, perfume oils and tinctures, where you need a solid, leak-proof packaging that shows the colour and clarity of the contents. Clear glass does not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils. The aluminium cap with an inner sealing insert closes the bottle reliably and gives it a simple, clean appearance.

What the set contains and how to use it

The base is a glass bottle with a nominal volume of 15 ml and a neck with a 18/410 thread. The second component is a silver aluminium cap with the same thread and a sealing insert made of expanded polyethylene (EPE). When tightened, the insert presses against the rim of the neck and seals the contents against leakage and evaporation. The contents are dispensed by tilting the bottle, or by pouring into the palm or onto a cotton pad. The set does not have a dropper or pump, so it is suitable for products where precise drop-by-drop dispensing is not required.

Both the bottle and the cap are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; a declaration of conformity is available for each component. The set as a whole is not intended for food use.

Suitable for products such as

  • Samples and testers – the small volume allows customers to try a facial oil, serum or body oil before purchasing the full size.
  • Facial and hair oils – glass does not absorb oil or alter its scent, and the clear packaging shows the colour of the blend.
  • Perfume and massage oils – for a low dose per single use, a small volume is sufficient, and the aluminium cap seals even thin oily contents.
  • Tinctures and alcohol-based preparations – glass is resistant to alcohol and, unlike some plastics, will not cloud or deform.
  • Travel sizes – oils, tonics or liquid concentrates for a few days without the risk of the packaging releasing scent or contents.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended at standard filling and which is stated on the label. Total brim volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference accounts for the headspace for the closure and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, for example during transport. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise, when tightening the cap, the contents will be forced onto the thread and the seal will no longer hold reliably. Both values can be found in the product parameters.

Before first use, wash both the bottle and the cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based or anhydrous product promotes microbial growth.

Good to know

Clear glass does not protect against light. It is suitable for contents that are not sensitive to light, or for products that are used up quickly. For raw materials sensitive to light and oxidation (for example oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, essential oils, vitamin C) amber or blue glass is preferable, or storing the packaging in a box away from direct light.

Glass and heat. The bottle withstands normal temperatures during filling, but a sudden temperature difference is not suitable. A hot oil phase poured into cold glass can cause cracking, so allow the contents to cool to at least a lukewarm temperature before filling.

The aluminium cap should be tightened by hand, without force. Over-tightening deforms the sealing insert and the cap will then seal less effectively. For alcohol-based contents and blends with a high proportion of essential oils, we recommend verifying the seal with the specific formulation, ideally by placing the filled bottle on its side for several days.

Reuse. The glass can be washed and used again. We recommend replacing the cap if the insert is dented or has absorbed the previous contents. At end of life, the bottle goes into glass recycling and the cap into metal recycling.

For oil-based products, choose a self-adhesive film resistant to grease, as a paper label will quickly saturate.

Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

The set is not intended for contact with food. Use it for cosmetic products; for household oils or syrups, choose packaging with a food-grade certification.

Frequently asked questions

Does the clear 15 ml glass bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass transmits light and does not protect the contents from it. The set is suitable for products that are not harmed by light, or that are used up quickly, such as samples and travel sizes. For oils and active ingredients sensitive to light, we recommend amber or blue glass, or storing the bottle in a box or in the dark.
How much should be filled into the 15 ml glass bottle with aluminium cap?
Fill to the nominal volume of 15 ml, not to the brim. The total volume up to the neck is larger, and the difference serves as headspace for the cap and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you overfill the bottle, the contents will reach the thread when tightening, the cap will not seal, and the product may leak inside the packaging or during shipping.
Is the glass bottle with aluminium cap suitable for oils and alcohol-based tinctures?
Yes, glass does not react with oils, essential oils or alcohol and does not alter their scent. The aluminium cap has a sealing insert that, when properly tightened, holds even thin oily contents. For tinctures and blends with a high proportion of essential oils, we recommend verifying the seal in advance by placing the filled bottle on its side.
Can the glass bottle with aluminium cap be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be washed, disinfected and refilled. We recommend checking and replacing the aluminium cap if the sealing insert is dented, has absorbed the previous contents, or the thread is damaged. For recycling, the bottle goes into glass and the cap into metal waste.
Which closure fits the 15 ml glass bottle with 18/410 thread?
Any closure with a 18/410 thread fits the bottle; the aluminium cap is included in this set. If you need a different dispensing option, such as a dropper or spray, closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, verify the seal with the specific formulation.
