Product description

The glass bottle with an aluminium cap, with a volume of 10 ml, is small retail packaging for concentrated products that are dispensed by the drop or in small amounts. Clear glass shows both the colour and the clarity of the contents, so it suits samples of oil serums, essential oil blends, perfume oils and tinctures. The pharmaceutical bottle shape with an 18 mm neck and the silver screw cap form a ready-made set that is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

Suitable uses

The small volume makes this bottle suitable packaging for products that are used up quickly or applied in small amounts.

Samples and testers – when launching a new serum or facial oil, the customer receives an amount they can use up within the recommended period after opening.
Essential oil blends and perfume oils – the volume matches typical consumption and clear glass shows the shade of the blend. For light-sensitive ingredients, see the recommendation in the section below.
Oil serums and concentrates – contents with a higher proportion of active ingredients, from which only a few drops are dispensed.
Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with alcohol and does not absorb the scent, and after washing, the bottle can be used again.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the product parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the cap or dropper and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle pushes the contents into the thread when closed, so the cap does not sit straight and may leak.

When filling, set the filling line or measure to 10 ml and check the level against the light. In clear glass you can see the level immediately, so you will spot overfilling before you close the bottle.

Cap and closing

The silver cap is made of aluminium with an EPE liner that sits on the neck and seals the joint. It is fitted by screwing onto the 18/410 neck finish. Tighten it by hand, without tools. Overtightening compresses the liner and does not improve the seal, quite the opposite.

Good to know

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Essential oils, oils prone to oxidation and some active ingredients change faster in light, so store filled bottles in a carton, drawer or dark cupboard. If the product is to stand on a shelf or by a window, amber or blue glass from our range is more suitable.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the packaging shortens the shelf life of anhydrous and oil-based products.

Hot contents do not belong in cold glass. Thermal shock can crack the glass, so let the contents cool at least to room temperature before filling, or preheat the bottle. After washing, the glass can be reused. With essential oils and solvents, we recommend checking the cap from time to time and replacing it if it loses its tightness.

Glass and aluminium are recycled separately, so unscrew the cap from the bottle when disposing of it.

Does a clear glass bottle protect the contents from light?

No, clear glass lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. For light-sensitive products, such as essential oils, oils prone to oxidation or some vitamin serums, amber or blue glass is more suitable. Choose a clear bottle when the customer is meant to see the contents, and store the finished product in the dark, for example in a cardboard box.

How much can you actually pour into a 10 ml glass bottle?
