Product description

The transparent plastic 100 ml bottle with a white flip top cap is a ready-made complete packaging and closure for smaller volumes of liquid and semi-liquid cosmetics. The PET bottle is lightweight, shatter-resistant and clear, so the contents remain visible. The flip top cap allows one-handed dispensing without unscrewing. The set is therefore best suited for products that are used frequently or in the shower: shower gels, shampoos, body lotions, cleansing gels or facial toners, as well as for travel and sample packaging.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle has a separate certification for direct food contact; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

  • Rinse-off products – shower gels, shampoos and cleansing gels that are dispensed repeatedly and where quick one-handed opening is important.
  • Body and facial lotions – lighter emulsions of medium viscosity are well controlled through the small flip top opening and do not pour out all at once.
  • Toners and aqueous solutions – thin contents flow more quickly, so the bottle is tilted only slightly when dispensing. If the product is to be sprayed, a bottle with a spray pump is more suitable.
  • Travel and sample packaging – the 100 ml volume corresponds to the standard limit for liquids in carry-on luggage, and the transparent bottle makes it easy to check the contents.
  • Oil blends and massage oils – PET is generally compatible with vegetable oils. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend verifying compatibility.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed for normal filling, and this is the volume stated in the name. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes or the bottle is squeezed. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle will force some of the contents into the cap when closing and may overflow when first opened.

What is good to know about filling and use

Before the first filling, the bottle and cap are washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. Residual moisture could compromise the preservation of the product. Short contact with alcohol is well tolerated by both PET and PP.

After filling, tighten the cap firmly but without excessive force, snap the flip part closed and turn the bottle upside down. If nothing seeps from the opening, the set seals correctly. With thin products, expect faster flow and dispense with a smaller tilt of the bottle.

Transparent PET does not protect the contents from light. If the formulation contains light-sensitive ingredients, such as unstabilised vegetable oils, vitamin C or certain pigments, the bottle should be stored away from direct light or a dark packaging material should be chosen.

PET is not suitable for filling hot products. Hot contents can deform the bottle wall, so they should be allowed to cool to room temperature before filling.

PET is resistant to common cosmetic ingredients. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, limonene or certain solvents, the wall may become cloudy or soften over time, so a compatibility test in the finished formulation is recommended. The smooth cylindrical wall of the bottle is suitable for labelling; label dimensions are listed in the specifications.

The set already includes the cap. If you wish to combine the bottle with a different closure, closures with the same neck type as stated in the specifications, as well as ready-made combinations, are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

The bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP; both parts should be placed in the sorted plastic waste collection after emptying.

Frequently asked questions

Does the transparent 100 ml PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, transparent PET lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. For products with light-sensitive ingredients, such as unstabilised vegetable oils or vitamin C, a dark container is more suitable, or the bottle should be stored in a cabinet or cosmetic bag away from direct light. For ordinary rinse-off products such as shower gels and shampoos, transparency is not an issue.
Can the PET bottle with flip top cap set be used for food?
The set as a whole is not declared for food contact; it is intended for cosmetics. The bottle has a separate certification for direct food contact, but the flip top cap does not. If you wish to use the bottle for home oils, syrups or herbal extracts, it must be combined with a closure that has a food contact certification.
How full should the 100 ml PET bottle with flip top cap be filled?
The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The space above this level serves as a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes or the bottle is squeezed. An overfilled bottle forces the contents into the cap when closing and may overflow when first opened, so the level should be kept below the neck.
Is the PET bottle with flip top cap suitable for toners and thin aqueous products?
Yes, the flip top can be used for thin contents as well, but dispensing is faster than with gels and lotions. With toners and aqueous solutions, the bottle is tilted only slightly to prevent dispensing more than needed. If the product is to be applied by spraying, a bottle with a spray pump is more suitable.
Can the PET bottle with flip top cap be washed and reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the cap can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection with alcohol. Before refilling, both parts should be left to dry completely and the hinge and cap seal should be checked to ensure they still hold well. Any residue from the previous product in the cap opening should be removed, as it could contaminate the new fill.
What contents are not recommended for the transparent PET bottle?
Hot products and formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, limonene or aggressive solvents should not be filled into PET bottles. Hot contents can deform the wall, and concentrated essential oils or solvents can make it cloudy or soften it over time. Common cosmetic ingredients, vegetable oils, emulsions and aqueous solutions are well tolerated by PET. For unusual compositions, a short test in the finished formulation is recommended.
