Amber Glass Bottle, Black Cap, 100 ml

The amber glass medicine bottle with a black cap, 100 ml, is used for storing and selling liquid cosmetic products that need protection from light. Amber glass lets through less light than clear glass, so it suits face and body oils, serums, toners, tinctures, herbal infusions and blends of essential oils in a carrier oil. The set is supplied with the closure already included, so you can fill and close it without looking for further parts.

The medicine bottle has a narrow neck and straight walls, which make it easy to work with when filling and labelling. The neck has an 18/410 neck finish, and the black cap with the same thread is made of polypropylene (PP) with a sealing liner made of expanded polyethylene (EPE) foam. The liner sits on the rim of the neck and helps limit leakage and evaporation of the contents.

What the set is suitable for

• Oil-based products – face and body oils, oil serums and massage blends. Glass does not absorb them, and dark glass protects them from light.
• Toners and hydrosols – water-based products in smaller packs, which are used up before they lose their freshness.
• Alcohol tinctures and infusions – glass does not react with solvents, which is an advantage over many plastics.
• Samples and test batches – a volume of 100 ml is enough for trying out a formula or for small runs for customers.

The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the closure does not, so the set is intended for cosmetic products. You will find the declaration of conformity on the product page.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them provides a margin for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, for example during transport or when stored in the sun. For this reason, fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. With oils and alcohol-based products, the margin also prevents the contents from reaching the thread when the cap is tightened.

Working with the closure

A plain cap is placed on the neck and tightened by hand. It has no dispensing element, so the contents are poured out directly or measured with a separate tool. If you need to dispense drop by drop or to spray, you will find closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made combinations of a bottle with a dropper or a sprayer, in the Handymade range. For a combination of your own, we recommend checking the tightness with your specific formula, for example by turning the filled bottle upside down for several hours.

Good to know

Glass withstands normal temperatures during filling, but not a sudden thermal shock. Let a hot oil phase or a freshly brewed infusion cool to at least lukewarm before filling, and do not place the bottle on a cold metal surface immediately after filling it with warm contents.

After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused. When changing the contents, especially after oils or fragrance compositions, bear in mind that the cap liner may retain the scent or traces of the previous contents. In that case, replace at least the cap.

After use, the glass bottle belongs in glass recycling and the plastic cap in plastic recycling. Separate them before recycling.
