Amber Glass Bottle, Black Cap, 30 ml

The amber glass medicine bottle with a capacity of 30 ml and a black plastic cap is used for storing smaller quantities of cosmetic products where protection from light matters. The dark glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, so it is mainly filled with facial oils, serums, essential oil blends and samples that deteriorate faster in light.

The set consists of a bottle with an 18/410 neck finish and a polypropylene cap with a polyethylene foam liner. The packaging is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. It is suitable for home and small-batch production, for sampling and for carrying products in travel-size packaging.

Suitable uses

• Facial and body oils – blends of vegetable oils with vitamin E or essential oils, where amber glass slows down oxidation caused by light.
• Serums with active ingredients – the smaller volume allows you to use up the product before it loses its effectiveness, and the glass does not affect its composition.
• Alcohol extracts for cosmetics – glass withstands alcohol without any change, and the amber colour protects plant dyes and active ingredients from breaking down in light.
• Essential oil blends and perfume concentrates – a tightly closed medicine bottle limits the evaporation of volatile fragrance components.
• Samples and test batches – a volume of 30 ml is enough for a stability test or for trying out a recipe before larger production.

How to use the set

The cap is screwed onto the 18/410 thread and the sealing liner presses against the neck, sealing the contents against leakage and evaporation. The neck with a diameter of 18 mm is fairly narrow, so the contents pour out in a thin stream or drop by drop when you tilt the bottle. The set with a plain cap is intended primarily for storage and carrying. You will find other closures with an 18/410 thread, for example a dropper for more precise dispensing, and ready-made combinations of bottle and closure in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your particular formulation.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 30 ml is the amount the medicine bottle is designed to hold when filled normally. The total brimful volume stated in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference provides room for the cap or another closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, for example when carried in a bag. Fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill it up to the neck, the contents are pushed out when closing or seep into the thread.

Good to know

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. A hot phase poured into a cold bottle may crack the glass, so let the product cool to at least lukewarm before filling, or preheat the bottle.

The cap is made of plastic. If the contents have a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking after a few days that the liner has not changed shape and that the closure still seals. The glass itself withstands these substances without any change.

After washing and disinfection, the medicine bottle can be reused. We recommend replacing the cap if the liner has lost its elasticity or carries residues of the previous contents that cannot be removed.

Only the glass medicine bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the set with the black cap as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

For recycling, the bottle belongs with glass and the cap with plastics, so separate them before disposal.
