Product description
A glass bottle with dropper, 50 ml, is a ready-made complete packaging and closure for precise drop-by-drop dosing of liquid cosmetic preparations. The bottle and dropper are matched to the same neck type and glass tube length, so there is no need to combine them separately. Simply fill, screw on and dose. Clear glass shows the colour and clarity of the contents, which you will appreciate with amber oils, golden serums or tinted tinctures, where the appearance of the product is part of its presentation. The white and gold dropper gives the set a clean look that is not flashy.
The set is suitable wherever small amounts are used and precise dosing matters: for facial serums, facial and body oils, blends with essential oils or tinctures. Both components are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact; the complete set with dropper is intended for cosmetics.
Why choose this set
- Precise dosing – the dropper dispenses one drop at a time, which is advantageous with concentrated serums and active oils where only two to four drops are used per application. Only as much as needed is used, and the product lasts longer.
- Hygienic use – the contents are not scooped out with fingers or poured through the neck, so no impurities from hands enter the bottle. For leave-on products without strong preservation this is a practical advantage.
- Glass with no interaction with the contents – both the bottle and the dropper tube are glass, they do not react with the contents and do not absorb fragrances. After thorough washing you can therefore reuse the set for a different type of product.
- Visible contents – through the clear glass you can see the amount of remaining product as well as its colour or any possible cloudiness, which helps with quality control in home production.
- Coordinated appearance – the white closure with a gold element looks clean and suits both light and dark labels. Small brands can thus achieve a uniform look across their entire range without searching for matching closures.
How the set works for dosing
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a flexible silicone bulb and a screw closure made of plastic with an aluminium element in a gold tone. Squeezing the bulb fills the tube, releasing it draws the product in, and then gentle squeezing dispenses it drop by drop. The length of the tube is chosen to match the height of the bottle so that it reaches nearly to the bottom and the remaining contents can be drawn up.
The dripping speed depends on viscosity. Thinner serums and light oils drip quickly and evenly; thicker oils and glycerine tinctures drip more slowly and in larger drops. With very thick products, such as gel serums or massage oils with a high proportion of castor oil, the tube fills slowly and dosing is less convenient. For such textures a pump or a bottle with a cap is more suitable.
If the product immediately flows back from the tube into the bottle after drawing up, this is normal with very thin liquids such as hydrolats or alcoholic tinctures. It helps to work quickly and dose immediately after drawing up.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial serums, both oil-based and water-based – the dropper dispenses precisely the small amount that is spread over the face.
- Facial oils and oil blends – the tube picks up even a thicker oil with ease.
- Blends with essential oils diluted in a carrier oil – drop dosing is natural here.
- Oil conditioners and hair tip serums, beard oil, cuticle oil.
- Tinctures and alcoholic extracts for cosmetic use – both the glass bottle and tube withstand alcohol.
The set is less suitable for creams, thick gels and products that are applied to a larger area of the body in larger amounts. Drop dosing is impractical there.
Nominal volume and filling reserve
The bottle has a nominal volume of 50 ml. This is the amount the container is designed for during standard filling and what is stated on the label. The total capacity to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is larger. The difference between the two values is the allowance for the dropper, which displaces some volume when screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. It is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise, after fitting the dropper, the product is forced up through the neck and contaminates the thread.
What is good to know
Before the first filling, wash both the bottle and the dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Residual water in the tube or on the bottom of the bottle would get into an anhydrous oil or serum and impair its stability. For water-based products such as water-based serums and tonics, keep in mind that the packaging itself does not replace preservation. The product must be properly preserved.
Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. For products sensitive to light, such as oils prone to oxidation, serums with vitamin C, retinoids or certain plant extracts, we recommend storing the product in a box or away from direct light, or choosing a dark glass bottle. For standard serums and oils that are used up within a few weeks, clear glass is fine.
For concentrated essential oil blends or products with a high proportion of solvents, we recommend checking the behaviour of the silicone bulb with the specific formulation. The glass tube and glass bottle do not react with the contents, but the flexible part of the dropper may be stressed over time with some concentrated ingredients.
Repeated use is straightforward with a glass set. Wash the bottle with warm water and detergent, rinse the tube by drawing up clean water several times and then ethanol, and leave everything to dry. Glass can withstand hot water, but the dropper with bulb should not go in the dishwasher or in boiling water.
A label is applied to the flat part of the bottle. On clear glass, both transparent labels and labels on light paper stand out well and coordinate with the white closure.
Recycling: the glass bottle belongs in glass. The dropper is a combination of glass, plastic, aluminium and silicone. Before disposing, separate the glass tube from the closure with the bulb and sort each part according to its material.
Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. When creating your own combination, we recommend checking the seal, dosing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
