Product description

A brown glass bottle in a vial shape with a volume of 100 ml and a pump dispenser is a packaging for liquid cosmetic products applied in small amounts: facial and hair oils, serums, light fluids, and body oils. Brown glass limits light penetration to the contents, which is particularly appreciated by formulations with vegetable oils, essential oils, and light-sensitive active ingredients. The dispenser delivers a small, consistent dose with each press, so the product is neither touched with fingers nor poured out.

The set consists of a bottle and dispenser in a glossy black-and-gold finish with a transparent smoke-tinted cap. The cap protects the pump head from dust and accidental pressing, for example in a cosmetics bag or during transport.

Which products is the set suitable for

  • Facial and hair oils – a small dose per press enables economical application, where just a few drops are sufficient.
  • Serums and light fluids – liquid to medium-viscosity textures flow through the dispenser smoothly, and the contents are not unnecessarily exposed during use.
  • Body and massage oils – the 100 ml volume lasts for extended use and the glass does not absorb the scent or colour of the contents.
  • Cleansing oils and liquid emulsions – suitable if they are sufficiently liquid. Thicker milk-type formulas should be tested first.

The dispenser is not suitable for thick creams, firm gels, or products with solid particles (scrubs, clay suspensions). Solid particles may clog the mechanism.

Nominal and total volume

The bottle has a nominal volume of 100 ml, meaning the volume it is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total brim volume is slightly larger — this is the physical capacity up to the rim of the neck. The difference serves as a reserve for the dip tube dispenser mechanism and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes.

Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The dip tube dispenser displaces some of the contents when fitted, and an overfilled bottle would overflow during closure, soiling the thread and the bottle surface.

How to use the dispenser

Before first use, the dispenser must be pressed several times until the dip tube fills and the product begins to dispense. The tube reaches deep into the bottle so the contents can be used almost entirely. If it rests against the bottom and bends when fitted, it can be cut at an angle with clean scissors.

The dispenser is made of plastic (PP) and aluminium. Common cosmetic oils, emulsions, and aqueous solutions are the typical contents for this type of closure. Caution is advised for formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol, or solvents.

Suitability for contact with cosmetics is declared for the glass bottle. No such declaration is available for the dispenser, so we recommend verifying compatibility with a specific formulation by means of a test fill: monitor the seal, dispensing flow, and the appearance of the plastic parts after several weeks.

Good to know

  • Preparation before filling – wash the bottle, rinse it and disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. The pump simply needs to be sprayed with ethanol. Allow both parts to dry completely before filling.
  • Glass and heat – glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Let hot contents cool down before filling, and do not fill a cold bottle with a warm mixture.
  • Food contact – the glass bottle alone holds certification for direct food contact. The pump does not, so the complete set is intended for cosmetics, not food use.
  • Labelling – the straight cylindrical wall is easy to label. Dimensions needed for label design are listed in the product parameters.
  • Recycling – glass goes into glass recycling; the plastic and aluminium pump is sorted separately from the bottle.

Frequently asked questions

Does the brown glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, brown glass limits light penetration to the contents and thereby slows the changes that light causes in cosmetics. Formulations with vegetable and essential oils benefit from this most. However, glass does not replace an antioxidant or proper storage: the product should still be kept away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Is the 100 ml glass bottle with dispenser suitable for food?
No, the bottle and dispenser set is not approved for food contact. Only the glass bottle itself holds food contact certification; the dispenser does not. The set is intended for cosmetic products. For home-made oils, syrups, or extracts, a bottle with a closure that has confirmed food-grade suitability must be chosen.
Can a closure other than the pump dispenser be fitted to the 100 ml brown vial?
Yes, other closures with the same neck type as stated in the product specifications can be fitted to the bottle. Handymade's range includes individual closures and other ready-made combinations for this bottle. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing, and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.
Can a thick cream or gel be filled into the glass bottle with dispenser?
Thick creams and firm gels are not suitable for this packaging; the dispenser is designed for liquid to medium-viscosity products. Thick contents are drawn up the dip tube with difficulty, the dose is inconsistent, and a large amount of product remains unused along the bottle walls. A jar is more practical for creams; the dispenser is suitable for oils, serums, and liquid emulsions.
Can the glass bottle with dispenser be reused?
The glass bottle can be reused; the dispenser only to a limited extent. Glass washes well, tolerates alcohol disinfection, and does not absorb the scent of previous contents. However, the inside of the dispenser and dip tube cannot be thoroughly cleaned, and residues of the old product may compromise a new fill. When refilling, especially with a different type of product, we recommend using a new dispenser.
