Product description

A glass bottle with nasal spray is a ready-made set for thin, water-based solutions applied in small, even doses — typically saline solutions for nasal moisturisation and hygiene. It combines a glass vial with a nominal volume of 100 ml and a white nasal spray pump.

Glass does not react with the contents and can be thoroughly cleaned before filling. The pump with its narrow applicator turns the liquid into a fine mist and delivers the same amount with each press.

How the set doses

The pump works as a mechanical dispenser: a dip tube draws liquid from the bottle and the applicator atomises it. One press delivers approximately 0.12 ml, so a bottle filled to its nominal volume yields roughly 800 doses. The small, repeatable dose is suitable wherever gentle application matters and where a standard spray bottle would deliver too much liquid at once.

Before first use, press the pump several times without liquid until it primes and begins to spray evenly. After an extended period of non-use, it is worth repeating this step.

What contents the set is suitable for

The pump is designed for thin liquids with the consistency of water:

  • Water and saline solutions – spray evenly and the pump dispenser works reliably with them.
  • Solutions with hydrolats or a low proportion of glycerin – are suitable as long as they remain thin; a higher share of moisturising ingredients changes the character of the spray.
  • Oils, gels and thick emulsions – are not suitable; the pump cannot atomise them into a fine spray and may become clogged.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass vial alone holds a food-contact certificate; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

The category into which a finished product filled into this packaging falls, and the resulting requirements for the packaging, is assessed by the manufacturer of the contents. We recommend verifying the suitability of the packaging for a specific product before placing it on the market.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is intended for under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference serves as a buffer: space is taken up by the dip tube and the pump body, and the liquid expands slightly with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

What is useful to know before filling

  • Preparing the container – wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. The dispenser is disinfected by pumping a few doses of alcohol through it, which is then allowed to evaporate.
  • Glass and temperature – glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. A hot solution should not be poured into a cold bottle; allow it to cool first.
  • Plastic and concentrated ingredients – the plastic parts of the dispenser may react to essential oils and solvents at higher concentrations. With such formulations, it is worth testing with a filled sample.
  • Labelling – the dimensions needed for label design are listed in the product parameters.
  • Recycling – after use, the glass and the plastic dispenser should be sorted separately.

Before filling a full batch, fill one bottle and use it for several days. This will show whether the solution produces an even spray, whether the pump clogs, and whether the set remains leak-proof during transport.

Closures with the same neck type (listed in the parameters) as well as other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. When assembling your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing, and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

What liquids can be filled into a glass bottle with a nasal spray?
A nasal spray bottle is suitable for thin, water-based solutions with the consistency of water, such as saline solutions or solutions with hydrolats. The pump is calibrated for a small dose of fine mist, so thick liquids, oils and gels cannot be atomised and may clog it. With solutions containing moisturising ingredients, it is advisable to test in advance whether the spray remains even.
How many doses does a 100 ml nasal spray bottle deliver?
A 100 ml bottle yields roughly 800 doses, as one press of the pump delivers approximately 0.12 ml of liquid. The actual number depends on how many presses are used to prime the pump at first use and on the small residue the dip tube cannot draw from the bottom.
Why is a 100 ml nasal spray bottle not filled to the brim?
The bottle is filled only to the nominal volume because the space above the liquid level is needed for the pump and for the expansion of the liquid. The total volume to the brim is greater than the nominal volume, and this difference provides a buffer. If filled right up to the neck, the dip tube and pump body would displace part of the contents and the thread would become contaminated.
Can a glass vial with a nasal spray be reused?
The glass vial can be reused provided it is washed, disinfected with alcohol and allowed to dry before each filling. The pump is harder to clean, as residue from the solution remains in the dip tube and pump mechanism. For products intended for sale, it is therefore safer to use a new pump with each new fill.
Is the glass nasal spray bottle set suitable for food use?
The set as a whole is not approved for contact with food; it is intended for cosmetic products. The food-contact certificate applies only to the glass vial itself — the nasal spray pump does not hold one. For food use, therefore, only the bottle in combination with a closure that has its own food-contact certificate would be considered.
