Product description

A glass bottle with a volume of 100 ml, supplied together with a glossy black-and-gold spray pump, forms a complete package for thin liquid products that are applied as a fine mist. The glass is inert to its contents, does not let fragrance through and does not react with aqueous or alcoholic mixtures. The spray pump distributes the liquid evenly over the skin, the hair or into the air.

A volume of 100 ml corresponds to a standard consumer pack for products that are used daily and in larger doses than a serum or an oil.

What the set is suitable for

  • Tonics, facial waters and hydrolats – low-viscosity water-based products spray evenly and are applied without a cotton pad.
  • Hair sprays and leave-in conditioners in liquid form – a fine mist distributes along the hair lengths without locally saturating them.
  • Body mists and alcohol-based fragrances – glass does not affect the scent of the contents, making it suitable for products with a higher proportion of ethanol.
  • Room and fabric fragrances – the sprayer is designed for both cosmetic and technical grade, so the set can be used outside of cosmetics as well.

How the spray pump doses

With a single press the spray pump dispenses approximately 0.14 ml of liquid. A full bottle therefore yields several hundred doses. The length of the dip tube matches the height of the bottle, so the contents can be used up almost completely.

The quality of the spray depends on the viscosity. Aqueous and alcoholic solutions create a fine mist. Thicker products, gels and pure vegetable oils come out more as a stream or coarse droplets and may clog the mechanism over time.

Before filling a larger batch it is worth filling a single unit and testing the finished formulation. Verify that the spray pump creates a mist, that it does not leak and that it does not clog after standing for a few days.

Nominal and total volume

The figure of 100 ml is the nominal volume, that is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume all the way to the edge of the neck and is somewhat higher. The difference serves as a reserve for the body of the spray pump with its dip tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow when the spray pump is fitted.

What is good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle, rinse with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. The sprayer is disinfected by spraying alcohol through the mechanism.
  • Glass and heat – glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not fill a cold bottle with hot contents; allow the product to cool first.
  • Plastic parts of the sprayer – the mechanism is made of polypropylene and aluminium. With blends containing a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, it is advisable to verify compatibility on a sample.
  • Labelling – the cylindrical body of the bottle provides a smooth surface for a label. The dimensions needed for its design are listed in the product parameters.
  • Sorting – glass belongs in glass recycling. The sprayer combines plastic and metal, so it is separated from the bottle before sorting.

The bottle can also be combined with other closures with the same neck type, which is stated in the parameters. You will find closures and other ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. For your own combination we recommend verifying the tightness, the dosing and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The attestation for direct contact with food is held separately by the glass bottle; the spray pump does not have it. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics, not for food.

Frequently asked questions

What products is the 100 ml glass bottle with a spray pump suitable for?
The 100 ml glass bottle with a spray pump is suitable for thin aqueous and alcoholic products that are applied as a mist. These include toners, facial lotions, hydrosols, hair and body sprays and interior fragrances. The glass does not react with the contents and does not let the fragrance through. The spray pump dispenses approximately 0.14 ml per press, so the product is applied evenly and economically.
Can the bottle with a spray pump be used for oils or thick products?
The bottle with a spray pump is not suitable for pure oils, gels and thick emulsions. The spray pump is designed for low-viscosity liquids. Thicker contents come out as a stream or coarse droplets and the mechanism may clog. For light two-phase products and thin milks the specific recipe is decisive, so a test with the finished product is required.
Is the glass bottle with a spray pump suitable for food?
The bottle-and-spray-pump set is not approved for contact with food. The attestation for direct contact with food is held only by the glass bottle itself; the spray pump is declared only for cosmetic products. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics. For food use the bottle needs to be fitted with a closure that has its own food declaration.
To what level is the 100 ml glass bottle filled?
The 100 ml glass bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The total brim-full volume is higher and forms a reserve for the body of the spray pump with its dip tube and for the expansion of the liquid when the temperature changes. If overfilled, the contents will overflow when the spray pump is fitted and will foul the thread.
Can the glass bottle with a spray pump be reused?
The glass bottle can be reused if it is thoroughly washed, disinfected with alcohol and dried before each new filling. The spray pump is harder to clean, because product residue remains in the dip tube and in the mechanism. It is flushed through with warm water and then with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. For products intended for sale we recommend always using a new spray pump.
