Product description

The glass bottle with cream dispenser is a ready-to-use set for cosmetics that should be dispensed hygienically. It consists of a bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml and a black dispenser that delivers a small, consistently similar dose with each press. It is suitable primarily for facial and body lotions, liquid creams, serums and gels — products that are dispensed without scooping with fingers and without opening the packaging.

Glass is inert towards cosmetic formulations: it does not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils, and does not let fragrances escape. The dispenser also limits contact between the contents and air or hands, which helps keep the product clean throughout its use.

What products is the set intended for

The cream dispenser works reliably with contents that flow on their own towards the tube — that is, with liquid to medium-consistency textures.

  • Facial and body lotions, liquid creams – emulsions that are easy to dispense, where a small dose promotes economical application.
  • Serums and gels – water-based and gel formulations with active ingredients, where clean dispensing and a consistent dose matter.
  • Oil serums and facial oils – glass handles oils well and the dispenser prevents spilling and oversized doses.
  • Liquid cleansing products – cleansing gels and milks, provided they do not contain solid particles.

Less suitable are very thick creams, butters and balms that will not flow towards the tube, and products with exfoliating particles that may clog the mechanism. Thin, watery products such as toners will be dispensed as a stream rather than a mist. A spray bottle is better suited for those.

How the dispenser works

The dispenser draws the contents through a tube from the bottom of the bottle and releases them when the pump head is pressed. Before first use, the pump head needs to be pressed several times without dispensing until the mechanism is primed. The dose size per press is listed in the specifications. It is small, making it suitable for facial products. For body products, several pumps will be needed.

If the tube rests against the bottom and bends after fitting, it can be trimmed slightly with clean scissors using an angled cut. The angled tip will not suction to the bottom, allowing the dispenser to draw out the contents almost entirely.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended to hold under normal filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference serves as a buffer for the dispenser tube mechanism and for expansion of the contents when temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

What to know before filling

  • Preparation – wash the bottle before first use, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. For the dispenser, pumping through some alcohol and letting it dry is sufficient.
  • Hot filling – glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Allow hot formulations to cool slightly before filling, or pre-warm the bottle. Fit the dispenser only after the contents have cooled down, to prevent moisture condensing underneath it.
  • Labelling – labels adhere best to dry, degreased glass. Dimensions needed for label design are listed in the specifications.
  • Other closures – closures with the same neck type (listed in the specifications) as well as other ready-made combinations are available from Handymade. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.
  • Contact with cosmetics and food – both the bottle and the dispenser are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Food-contact certification for direct food contact applies to the glass bottle alone. The dispenser does not carry this certification, so the complete set is intended for cosmetics only.
  • Recycling – the bottle is sorted as glass; the plastic dispenser should be separated before sorting.

The dispenser is made of plastic (polypropylene). For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend testing on a sample first to check that the dispenser still pumps smoothly and seals properly after a few weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Can a thick cream be pumped through the cream dispenser?
A thick cream that does not flow inside the bottle cannot be reliably pumped through a cream dispenser. An air pocket forms around the tube, the dispenser begins drawing in air, and a significant portion of the contents remains on the walls. This set is suited to emulsions with a liquid to semi-liquid consistency — that is, lotions, liquid creams, serums and gels. Thick creams, butters and balms are better served by a jar.
How much product should be filled into the 100 ml bottle with dispenser?
The bottle with dispenser should be filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The total capacity of the bottle is slightly larger and leaves room for the dispenser tube mechanism and for expansion of the contents when temperature changes. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents will overflow through the neck when the dispenser is fitted, contaminating the thread.
Can the glass bottle with cream dispenser be reused?
The glass bottle can be reused; for the dispenser, this is more limited. The bottle can be thoroughly washed and disinfected with alcohol. The inside of the dispenser is harder to clean, as product residue remains in the mechanism and the tube. For personal use, it can be rinsed by pumping through warm water and alcohol. For products intended for sale, we always recommend a new dispenser.
Is the glass bottle with cream dispenser suitable for food as well?
The set with cream dispenser is intended for cosmetics, not for food. Food-contact certification for direct food contact applies only to the glass bottle itself; the dispenser is declared only for contact with cosmetic products. For food use, therefore, only the bottle with a closure that carries its own food-contact certification is an option.
Is the bottle with cream dispenser suitable for oil-based and alcohol-based products?
The glass bottle tolerates oil-based, water-based and alcohol-based contents, as glass does not react with them. The more sensitive component is the plastic dispenser. Standard cosmetic oils and emulsions cause no issues. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, we recommend running a test on a sample and checking the seal and dispenser function after a few weeks.
