Product description
# Clear glass bottle with dropper, 50 ml
The 50 ml glass bottle with dropper is a ready-made set for facial oils, serums, tinctures and concentrates that are applied drop by drop. Clear glass shows the colour and clarity of the contents, so it suits products where the contents should be visible. The black dropper with tamper-evident ring dispenses precisely and also shows whether the packaging has already been opened.
The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle itself also has a certificate for direct food contact, but the dropper does not, so the whole set is intended for cosmetics.
What it is suitable for
- Facial and hair oils – the dropper easily draws up liquid oils and oil blends and dispenses them directly onto the palm or into the hair.
- Water-based and oil-based serums – thin and slightly viscous serums are dispensed drop by drop, which saves the contents and prevents spilling.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with alcohol, and the clear bottle shows the colour of the extract.
- Essential oil blends and fragrance concentrates – for a diffuser, a bath or a carrier oil, where you measure in drops.
- Samples and test batches – the 50 ml volume is enough for a small batch or for testing a recipe before you make a larger quantity.
Dropper and dispensing
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a threaded plastic cap with a tamper-evident ring. The ring breaks when the bottle is opened for the first time, so both the customer and the maker can see whether the packaging has already been opened. When you sell finished products, it is easy to show that nobody has tampered with the contents.
Liquid and slightly viscous contents are dispensed best. Thick serums with a higher proportion of thickeners or very viscous oils are drawn into the tube slowly, and the drop forms unevenly. For such formulations, we recommend testing the dispensing before you fill the whole batch.
Before you fill a larger number of pieces, fill one bottle and leave it for several days, including lying on its side. This lets you check the tightness of the closure with your specific formulation and how the silicone part behaves with the contents.
Filling and volume
The nominal volume of 50 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper tube, which pushes part of the contents upwards when screwed in, and for the expansion of the liquid when the temperature changes. Therefore, fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill up to the neck, the contents overflow when the dropper is inserted and soil the thread.
The neck is narrow, so fill the bottle with a funnel or a dispensing bottle with a narrow neck. Pouring freely from a larger container leads to losses and a soiled thread.
Good to know
Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Oils prone to oxidation, serums with vitamin C or retinol and other light-sensitive formulations should be stored in the dark or in a box when in a clear bottle. If the product is to stand in the light, amber or blue glass is more suitable.
Preparation before the first filling. We recommend washing the bottle and the dropper, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and letting them dry completely. Residual water in the dropper tube would get into an anhydrous oil and reduce its stability.
Glass and temperature. Do not pour hot contents into the bottle; let them cool to room temperature before filling. A sudden change in temperature, for example a cold bottle and warm contents, can damage the glass.
Silicone and concentrated essential oils. The silicone bulb of the dropper is in contact with the vapours of the contents. For long-term storage of undiluted essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking its compatibility with the contents beforehand.
After use, do not return the dropper to the bottle if it is soiled by skin or a foreign liquid. Apply the drop to the palm, not directly to the face, so that no impurities get into the contents.
Reuse and recycling. After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle and the dropper can be used again. For the dropper, however, check that the silicone part still holds the vacuum and draws up the liquid. The glass bottle belongs in glass recycling; the dropper combines glass, plastic and silicone, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.
You will find closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and other ready-made combinations, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
