Product description
Glass bottle, dropper bottle with black dropper cap, 50 ml
A brown glass bottle in the shape of a dropper bottle with a black dropper with a tamper-evident ring is a complete set for serums, oil blends and tinctures that require light protection and precise dosing. Brown glass reduces light transmission, making the set particularly suitable for facial serums, oil blends, tinctures and concentrates whose composition weakens over time when exposed to light. The dropper dispenses contents drop by drop without spillage and without finger contact. The 50 ml volume is practical for smaller batches and more expensive formulations.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact; the dropper does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic use.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial and hair serums – both water-based and oil-based serums are dispensed drop by drop directly onto the palm or skin, and the contents remain protected from light.
- Oil blends and active oils – for oils sensitive to oxidation (such as rosehip or cranberry seed oil), brown glass helps alongside the small volume, which is consumed more quickly.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass is resistant to ethanol and the dropper makes it easy to measure an exact dose.
- Concentrates and samples – the smaller volume is suitable for test batches or formulations sold in small quantities.
How the set works
The bottle has a narrow threaded neck into which the dropper is screwed. The tamper-evident ring on the dropper breaks on first opening, so the end customer can see that the packaging has not been opened before. After opening, the ring no longer interferes with normal use and the dropper is unscrewed and screwed back on like a standard cap.
The dropper combines a glass tube that reaches almost to the bottom of the bottle with a silicone bulb and a plastic screw part. The glass tube does not absorb odours and is resistant to oils and alcohol. Its length allows the contents to be drawn up even from the last few millilitres.
Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The headspace above it is necessary so that the contents are not pushed out when the dropper is screwed on, and to leave room for expansion when the temperature changes.
Nominal and total volume
For every container we distinguish two volumes. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for in normal filling. The total brim volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is the headspace for the dropper tube, which displaces some of the contents, and for expansion of the formulation. Both values can be found in the product parameters.
Good to know
Before first use, we recommend washing and disinfecting both the bottle and the dropper with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving them to dry completely with the neck facing down. No water or disinfectant residue should remain inside, especially for anhydrous oil formulations. Thorough preparation is particularly important for water-based serums, which are more susceptible to microbial contamination than oils.
The glass bottle can be reused. When refilling, check the silicone bulb of the dropper to see whether it has softened or swollen. With blends containing a higher proportion of essential oils and with alcohol extracts, the silicone may change over time. If the bulb has lost its elasticity, simply replace the dropper and the bottle continues to be usable.
When applying a label, account for the cylindrical body and the flat surface below the bottle shoulder. The diameter and height can be found in the parameters.
Droppers and other closures with the same neck type are available in the Handymade range. When combining your own container and closure, we recommend verifying the seal and the behaviour of the closure with the specific formulation.
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not pour a hot formulation into a cold bottle. Allow it to cool to at least lukewarm temperature or pre-temper the bottle beforehand.
The bottle is made of glass and belongs in the glass recycling bin once empty. The dropper is made of multiple materials, so separate it from the bottle before recycling.
