Product description
This is a complete packaging and closure set: a glass bottle with a frosted milky surface and a black dropper with a tamper-evident ring. It is suitable for facial serums, oil serums and facial oils, diluted essential oil blends, tinctures or active ingredient concentrates — anywhere where dosing is by drops and a smaller size for a few weeks of use is sufficient. The 50 ml volume is also well suited for trial batches and customer samples.
The frosted milky glass surface diffuses light, so the contents are visible only as a silhouette and the product looks understated even without a label. Glass is chemically stable, does not react with the contents and does not absorb fragrances, making it suitable for formulations with essential oils or alcohol. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics, and the declaration of conformity is available with the product.
Why choose this set
- Precise drop-by-drop dosing – the glass tube with a silicone bulb draws up the liquid and releases it one drop at a time. With serums and oils that have a higher concentration of active ingredients, this is more practical than pouring from the neck.
- Tamper-evident ring – the ring breaks upon first opening, so the customer can immediately see whether the packaging has already been opened.
- Diffused light – the milky surface reduces the direct impact of light on the contents. However, it does not replace dark glass for highly light-sensitive ingredients.
- Inert materials in contact with the contents – the glass of the bottle and the glass tube of the dropper come into contact with the formulation, which limits the risk of fragrance absorption or discolouration of the packaging.
- Reusable packaging – after thorough washing and disinfection, both the bottle and the dropper can be used again.
What the set is suitable for
It works best with liquid to slightly viscous contents: water-based serums with hyaluronic acid or niacinamide, oil serums, pure plant oils for the face, beard oil, cuticle oils, hair end serum or diluted aromatherapy blends in a carrier oil. It is also suitable for tinctures and alcohol-based extracts, as both the bottle glass and the glass tube of the dropper are compatible with alcohol.
It is less suitable for thick gels, creams and emulsions. The dropper draws these up only partially, drops form irregularly and dosing becomes imprecise. If the formulation is thicker, it helps to reduce the proportion of thickener or to choose packaging with a pump or a jar.
Filling and volume
The packaging has a nominal volume, meaning the volume it is designed for under normal filling, and a total volume to the brim, meaning the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is the reserve for the dropper tube, which when screwed in displaces some of the contents, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. It should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents will be pushed out through the neck when the dropper is fitted and will contaminate the thread.
Before the first fill, wash both the bottle and the dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in the tube can cause cloudiness in an oil serum and shorten the product's stability.
The dropper tube reaches almost to the bottom of the bottle, so virtually all the contents can be dispensed without tilting the packaging. When dosing, simply squeeze the bulb, submerge the tube, release and then dispense drop by drop with gentle pressure.
Good to know
Glass is sensitive to sudden temperature changes. Do not fill a hot phase directly into a cold bottle and do not put the packaging in the freezer. Serums and oils should be filled after cooling to room temperature.
The silicone bulb and glass tube are compatible with common cosmetic oils, water-based serums and alcohol. With a high proportion of essential oils or undiluted solvents, we recommend checking how the bulb behaves after several weeks of contact, as the vapours may over time alter its elasticity. With serums and oils containing essential oils at the usual dosing level of a few percent, this is not normally an issue.
The set is not approved for contact with foodstuffs. Do not use it for edible oils, syrups or herbal extracts intended for consumption. It is intended for cosmetic products.
Before applying a label, we recommend degreasing the frosted glass surface so that the self-adhesive label adheres well.
Closures with the same neck type as listed in the product parameters, and other ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. When combining the bottle with a different closure, we recommend checking the seal, dosing performance and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
When no longer in use, the bottle belongs in glass recycling. The dropper should be disassembled before disposal, as it combines a plastic closure, a glass tube and a silicone bulb.
