Product description

Glass dropper bottle 30 ml in a glossy black finish is a complete packaging set — bottle plus closure — for products dispensed drop by drop. It consists of a glass vial, a plastic dropper insert fitted into the neck, and a black screw-on cap. The opaque black glass protects the contents from light, and the dropper dispenses the contents drop by drop without any additional tools and without unnecessary hand contact.

The set is suitable for liquid preparations used in small amounts: facial serums, face and hair oils, essential oil blends, active ingredient concentrates, nail and cuticle oils, and alcohol tinctures. The 30 ml volume is ideal for products consumed within a few weeks, so the contents are not left open unnecessarily long.

What makes this set useful

  • Light protection – opaque black glass does not let light through, which slows oxidation of sensitive ingredients such as vegetable oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, essential oils, or fat-soluble vitamins.
  • Drop-by-drop dispensing – the dropper insert in the neck releases the contents slowly and evenly. The product does not spill, the dose is repeatable, and the user does not touch the contents.
  • Hygienic use – unlike an open neck, nothing that has been in contact with the skin goes back into the bottle. This is particularly helpful for oils and anhydrous serums that are typically not preserved.
  • Glass with no interaction with contents – glass does not react with oils, essential oils, or alcohol, so it is also suitable for concentrated blends that could affect plastic bottles over time.
  • Uniform black appearance – both the bottle and cap are black, the set has a cohesive look and works well with a light or gold label.

How the set works and what contents it is suitable for

The dropper is fitted into the bottle neck and the cap is screwed on over it. When using, tilt the bottle or turn it upside down and the contents flow out drop by drop. The dripping speed depends on viscosity: thin oils, oil-based serums, alcohol and water solutions flow freely, while thick oils (such as castor oil) or thickened serums flow slowly. Therefore, test the dispensing on one bottle before filling a larger batch.

The dropper is made of polypropylene (PP), the cap of polyethylene (PE). Both materials withstand common cosmetic oils and both water-based and alcohol-based contents. With concentrated essential oils or blends with a high proportion of solvents, we recommend checking the dropper's behaviour in the specific formulation, as prolonged contact with aggressive ingredients may soften or discolour the plastic over time.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the packaging is designed for standard filling, and for this set it is 30 ml. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference is not a defect but a reserve for the dropper and for expansion of the contents. Exact values are listed in the specifications.

Fill the bottle only up to the nominal volume. When the dropper is inserted, it displaces some air, and the contents expand slightly with temperature changes. An overfilled bottle will overflow when the cap is screwed on.

Good to know

Preparation before first filling. We recommend washing the bottle with warm water, rinsing it, optionally disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leaving it to dry completely upside down. Residual water in an oil-based product promotes microbial growth and spoils the appearance of the contents. For the dropper and cap, a rinse with lukewarm water and drying is sufficient — do not expose them to hot water.

Glass and temperature. The bottle can be filled with cold as well as slightly warmed oils. Pouring hot contents into cold glass or rapid cooling may crack the glass, so let the contents cool to approximately room temperature before filling.

Reuse. The glass bottle can be reused after thorough washing and drying. The dropper is harder to clean, especially after thick oils or fragrances that remain in the plastic. With a new content of a different fragrance or with sensitive serums, it is preferable to use a new dropper.

Labelling. The smooth cylindrical shape of the vial allows a label to be applied around the circumference. Dimensions suitable for the label are in the packaging specifications. Light, metallic, or transparent labels with light print stand out on the glossy black glass.

Contact with cosmetics and food. The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The food contact compliance certificate applies to the glass bottle alone; the dropper and cap do not hold this certification, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic use.

Recycling. The glass bottle goes in the glass recycling, the dropper and cap are plastic and are sorted separately. Separate them before disposal.

The black glass makes it impossible to see the fill level or any change in the appearance of the contents. For products with limited stability, write the date of filling on the label and periodically check the contents by smell after dispensing a drop.

Frequently asked questions

Does a black glass bottle protect the contents from light better than a brown one?
Yes, opaque black glass does not let light through at all, whereas brown glass only filters it. Black glass is therefore a suitable choice for oils, essential oils, and serums with light-sensitive ingredients. The drawback is that neither the contents nor the fill level can be seen through the glass, so write the date of filling on the label.
Is the glass dropper bottle suitable for water-based serums and tonics?
Yes, the dropper dispenses water-based and alcohol-based solutions without any issue — they actually flow faster than oils. Water-based products do require appropriate preservation, however, as the contents come into contact with air each time the bottle is opened. Neither the glass nor the polypropylene dropper reacts with water-based contents.
How much content fits in a 30 ml glass dropper bottle?
The bottle is designed for a nominal volume of 30 ml and should be filled to this level. The physical volume up to the neck is somewhat larger, but this space is occupied by the dropper and serves as a reserve for the expansion of the contents. If filled to the brim, the contents will overflow when the dropper is inserted and the cap is screwed on.
Can the dropper be removed from the bottle and the bottle refilled?
Yes, the dropper is fitted into the neck and can be carefully pried out, for example with the edge of a spoon or a flat tool. Then wash, disinfect, and dry the bottle. The dropper itself is difficult to clean after thick oils or strong fragrances, as these tend to remain in the plastic — for a new content, it is more reliable to use a new dropper.
Is the glass dropper bottle suitable for thick oils and thickened serums?
Partially. Thin and medium-viscosity oils flow through the dropper freely, while thick oils such as castor oil or high-viscosity serums flow slowly and dispensing becomes inconvenient. For such products, packaging with a pump or a wider neck is more appropriate. We recommend testing with one bottle before filling a larger batch.
Can I fill the glass dropper bottle with food oils or herbal extracts?
No, the set as a whole is not declared for food contact. The food contact compliance certificate applies only to the glass bottle itself; the dropper and cap are intended for cosmetic use. The full assembly with dropper and cap is therefore intended for cosmetics: serums, oils, and tinctures for external use only.
