Green Glass Bottle, Black Lotion Pump with Black Overcap, 50 ml

A green glass bottle with a capacity of 50 ml and a fitted plastic lotion pump makes a ready-to-use packaging set for face creams, emulsions and thicker serums. The contents are dispensed by pressing the head, with no need to unscrew anything and without touching the rest of the cream with your fingers. The tint of the glass limits the amount of light that reaches the contents. The bottle neck and the pump have the same diameter of 18 mm, so the set is matched and there is no need to choose a closure.

What the set is suitable for

The pump will not draw up very firm ointments, balms and butters; a jar is better suited to those. Thin toners and liquid oils, on the other hand, may drip from the head, so a fine mist sprayer or a dropper is more suitable for such contents.

How the pump works

The pump draws up the contents through a tube that reaches the bottom of the bottle. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml; the actual dose depends on the thickness of the cream and on how far you press the head. Before the first use, press the head several times without dispensing until the tube and the mechanism fill.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended to hold under normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the tube and the body of the pump, which take up part of the space once screwed on. For this reason, fill only up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is overfilled, the cream escapes through the thread when the pump is fitted and soils the neck.

Thicker emulsions are easiest to fill into a narrow neck using a filling syringe or from a bag with a snipped corner. Let the contents run slowly down the wall so that no air bubbles are trapped in the cream, which would later interfere with dispensing.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the pump with clean water, press it several times so that the water passes through the whole mechanism, and leave it to drain with the head facing down.

The set is intended for repeated use. Once the contents are used up, rinse the pump with warm water and pump it clean, and wash the glass in the usual way. Residues of cream dried in the tube can be loosened by a short soak in warm water. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, check in advance whether the plastic parts of the pump swell and whether the seal holds. It is also worth testing whether your formulation passes smoothly through the pump and whether the dose suits you.

The bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics, and the declaration of conformity is provided with the product. The set has no food-contact certificate.
