Product description
The green glass bottle with a pump, with a 15 ml capacity, is designed for liquid and slightly thicker cosmetic products applied in small doses: face serums, face and nail oils, fluids or light emulsions. Green glass lets through less light than clear glass while still hinting at the colour of the contents. The pump with a dip tube draws the product from the bottom and releases the same small amount with each press, so the product is dispensed without fingers touching the neck. The white and gold glossy pump head with a clear overcap turns the small medicine bottle into a ready-to-use pack that only needs to be filled and labelled. The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.
What the set is suitable for
- Face serums and fluids – low viscosity passes through the dip tube and the pump valve without problems, and a small dose matches the amount needed for one application.
- Face and body oils in a small pack – 15 ml is enough for a sample, a travel pack or a more expensive blend that you want to use up drop by drop.
- Cuticle oil – one press onto the fingertip and you can apply it to the nails more quickly than with a brush.
- Test batches and samples – when developing a formulation, the small bottle holds exactly as much as you will actually try out, and the pump also shows how the product behaves when dispensed.
The pump and how to use it
The pump works with a dip tube that reaches the bottom of the bottle. After screwing it on, it needs to be primed: several presses with nothing coming out push the air out of the tube, and only then does the product come out. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml; the exact dose depends on the viscosity of the product and on how far down you press the pump.
The tube is longer than the bottle. If it extends past the bottom and bends after fitting, shorten it with a sharp knife so that it ends just above the bottom.
The pump is built for liquid to medium-thick products. Thick creams, butters, gels with particles or scrubs will not pass through the tube and will block the pump. For a thicker emulsion, we recommend testing the dispensing on a small sample before you fill the whole batch.
The clear overcap protects the pump opening from dust and prevents accidental pressing in a bag or drawer.
Filling and capacity
The nominal volume of 15 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful capacity given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the tube and the lower part of the pump, which take up space in the bottle once screwed on, and for the air that expands when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The narrow neck is easy to fill with a needleless syringe or a small funnel.
Before filling a larger batch, do a test on one bottle: fill 15 ml, screw on the pump, prime it and count how many presses the contents yield. The number is useful for your customer instructions.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with alcohol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely. It is enough to rinse the pump with clean water by pumping it through and let it dry with nothing in it. With an anhydrous oil, residual water in the tube would settle at the bottom; with an emulsion, it would dilute the first doses.
The pump is made of PP plastic and aluminium. With pure essential oils, products with a high proportion of alcohol or other solvents, we recommend checking on one piece whether the pump changes its behaviour over time.
After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused. We recommend replacing the pump when it starts to dispense unevenly or when it cannot be cleaned perfectly of its previous contents. The set is not declared for food contact; it is intended for cosmetics.
Closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, as well as ready-made bottle and closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
For disposal, the glass bottle goes in the glass recycling. The pump combines plastic and metal and is disposed of separately from the bottle.
